So..uh..how is DayZ SUPPOSED to be played?

Recommended Posts

I keep seeing people (mostly carebears) crying about how some people arent playing DayZ the way it is supposed to be played....or how some people dont understand the spirit of the game....all that mess.

So I ask you all, how do YOU think DayZ should be played? What IS the defined spirit of the game?

My opinion? This aint the sims online, people. If you are running around with an ALICE pack full of loot and an L85A2 AWS screaming HEY IM FRIENDLY at a guy who only has a 1911 and a can of beans, odds are, you are gonna get popped.

You survive, but the 'carebears' are complaining about the over abundance of people who play the game as if it were a Deathmatch game like CoD or CS.

People come online trying to find friends. What they really find is the true nature of the internet, assholes.

This makes them mad.

What are you contributing with this topic? You're essentially doing the same thing as the 'carebears'. Bitching about bitches.

I agree with op but people are not complaining about that. They are complaining that instead of ALICE pack filled with loot its an unarmed man with painkillers that is the one getting poped

There is only one way to play this game. Survive. How you do it is up to you. Outside of hacks and glitches that is. If you want to kos everyone, that's on you. If you want to team up with ppl, that's up to you. If one of those people decide. "Hey, I think I'm going to kill everyone" That is just part of the game. As long as he survives, he's doing it right lol.

My goal is to play on a rooster teeth server, find a group of players, hope and pray that a Rooster Teeth employee is with them and kill that RT employee, and only that person lol.

I play with the thought that even if you are unarmed, you could find a hatchet in five minutes, and come kill me. So you are dead. Sorry, but that's the way she goes. I would expect no less from you.

Test things, try and break the mod, figure out what is unpractical, figure out what is exploitable, etc...

IMO, supplies in general should be severely limited and zombies numbers increased. people will actually start dying from starvation, sickness, zombies - and not senseless PVP from m107 ghillie sniper fags.

as it is now, supplies and high-tier weapons are way too common. it's not as much a survival game as it is a drawn-out deathmatch.

There is no right or wrong way. If you want you can just sneak around until you are starved and die somewhere, you can make it your goal to find a bus to repair and drive from town to town, you can betray a friend by shooting him in his back or you can bait players with some cans of food and shoot them from 400m. Its up to you what you make out of the game.

Currently I think its everyone's duty to find bugs, glitches and maybe technical problems related to the mod and give feedback, you can do that however you want though.

You shoot every last god damned mother fucker you see. Without fail and without hesitation. If they are unarmed, even better, you can shoot them in the legs first and watch them crawl around bleeding.

That's a realistic survival strategy if the zombie apocalypse was real and I'll be damned if it's not the best strategy for DayZ.

I know because I like games more than the average person and I have opinions on human nature that I formulated all by myself inside of my brain and stuff to that effect.

I can only speak for myself, but I just find the whole 'shoot on sight' thing tedious. There's a million, billion games out there that do that sort of thing, most of them much, much better than DayZ.

I mean, PvP Battlefield 3 v PvP DayZ. It's not even in the same league. And I believe the only people who will argue with that are those who want an uneven contest.

But realistic combat! I hear you cry. Well, Arma II, I answer. Try it. You'll really dig it.

However, to get back on topic .... Look at the scenario the OP outlined. That guy with an m1911 and a can of beans is just as equipped to survive as the guy with a FAL and an Alice Pack.

But maybe what he lacks is other gear or med supplies. Well, here's a thought - team up with the better geared guy and go get them. DayZ is a great game, but it's exponentially better when you do it in a group.

Then maybe you could find a vehicle and repair it. Set up a base. Go hunting for other groups and have a big ole shoot out. You know ... fun stuff.

But to skulk about the streets of Cherno playing solo deathmatch - or even worse, to sit on a tall building and snipe those playing solo death match in Cherno - seems to me like being given the keys to a lambourghini and spending the day practising reverse parking.

It smacks of ... a lack of maturity. A certain ... deficiency of imagination, if you will.

But hey, swings and roundabouts. It's just, like, my opinion, man.
