possible admin abuse?

Recommended Posts

so me and some friends have been playing the vanilla mod and were having some fun we noticed a very elaborate base so we decided we wanted to get inside. so we got a sledge and some crowbars together we couldn't get in broke the crowbars then i decided to fix a heli nearby and we flew into the base. inside thew guy had so much stuff we grabbed what we needed an left a few members wanted to blow up all his shit but alas i talked them out of it. so this morning we go to login admin has the server locked and when we finally get in later me and my crew are inside a toolshed thats locked it has a tent inside with a holybook toliet paper and a empty bottle we were no where near that shed so the admin had to of put us in there some how. opinions please is this possible

They look at Logs , They know exactly what person destroyed what item. It's a Joke , thats why i stopped playing the MOD, Not to mention if you have a camp they know exactly where it is and  run right there to get there stuff back and blow your camp up. I think there even giving the SA private Admins to much power as it is. get off that MOD it's a JOKE. I got Locked outta more servers than fingers and toes just because i found a base and destroyed it. Because as we all know we need those 4000 SD magazines stored up.

Restarts and Player Kicks and day night cycle , thats all a private owner should have in my Opinion, Nothing to do with Persistence or anything like that. You watch what happens.. and how fast private servers get as bad as the public.. When they start giving out kill logs to server Admins it's over. Nothing but banning someone for killing 3 or 4 clan players who own that said server. Well get there im sure unfortunately. There is no middle ground for the fair player in this game. :(

Admins can see pretty much everything in the game as they control the database of all the items. But i fear there isn't going to be a hole lot we can do about bad admins all i can say is find another server and see how the admins react on that server you ill get some bad apples :-(

Generally speaking, I found the larger servers were less likely to have stuff like this happen.

The smaller ones seemed to be the admin wanting to play " By them self " and get butthurt whenever you raided their stash..

But as razor said, Bad apples in the bunch.

Unfortunately this is all too common in DayZ mod ( regardless of what mod you play) and it's beginning to happen in SA too.

You are probably set on Vanilla and I respect that. The original mod still holds that gritty survival feel and aspect.

If you are however open to other mods I play on a server where admins are absolutely NOT allowed to play. The biggest problem with admins is tha the majority of servers either have admins who are also players which is forever going to cause issues.. Or servers were they do not play but they are not really present at all... then there is no admin enforcing the rules and keeping a watchful eye. It's usually a case of one extreme or the other.

I am playing on DeadCell servers. No vanilla unfortunately but Epoch and Overpoch. They are completely impartial and un biased. Yet tey have a presence and quickly shut down and rule breaking trolls dupers and hackers.

It took a long time to find a server where admins were present and simultaneously didn't mess with the playing environment.

If your open to it give it a look.

On my Dayz server, I haven't even installed Infistar. I'm the owner/admin but I play just like anyone else does. On my other servers (Overpoch) we have Infistar but me and the other admins just play. We don't use tools to our advantage, just enjoy playing and if we have someone breaking the rules we have on the Overpoch servers (They are PVE), we act appropriately, but you'll find no admin abuse from me or my admins. Anyone that abuses their admin position will soon find themselves with an empty server.

As a general rule of thumb a admin should never be allowed play. Regardless of how good natured and strong of character he/she is.

They are privileged to sensitive information regarding each player such as locations possessions allied players etc. They have the ability to spawn something in when they need it.

They have a range of tools at their fingertips to help them be the dominat player.

Even if they truly were honest and of good moral fibre they still create the scenario where should they win a gunfight the opposing player will always have reasonable doubt.

As a rule of thumb I never played on servers where admins are also players. With 4 years and 3000+ Hours ( and I say plus because the 3000 is only since the game moved over to steam) of experience I can honestly say it does not work and it will not work.

Admins shouldn't even have the time to play on their servers. A admins duties are full on. They are never ending. If you have time to play as well as administrate the server then your not fulfilling your role as admin.

A admin who is online should be..

forever watching over the server.

Ensuring that no rules are being infringed upon.

Mediating any disputes between players in a fair and impartial manor.

Should be spectating each new players for a minimum of 10 mins to make sure they are not hacking cheating duping glitching or abusing.

Providing donations items to donators (I presume you have donator items to keep your server up and running ).

Providing information to anyone who is requesting it such as new players on rules etc.

A admin who is not online should be...

Advertising the server to help build it's player base. Ensuring he has quick access to reboot the server should a crash or error occur.

Attending to the servers website and forums to address any issues or topics requiring his attention.

If you have time to play after fulfilling all of these duties your server won't last and take my word for it. My associated server is sitting in the top 3 on gametracker right now.

A admins job is boring stressing and headache inducing.

If it's not any of those then your doing it wrong.
