Why bash Eve-Online players?

Recommended Posts

"Crowe: And then the EVE players came in.

Hall: And then EVE players came in. And suddenly, wham, there are all these massive exploits. I just shut down Europe, all the Europe servers, you remember? While we fixed that. It was only New Zealand that we could keep running."

Several large entities are flocking to this game. Entities from Eve-Online. These entities consist of thousands of players. The risk/reward PvP mechanics and sandbox element make this game very attractive to Eve PvPers.

No offense, but this isn't exactly good for PR. You're supposed to be marketing this game and not pointing the finger at people who play the game....

Im failing to see where any of that was negative or bashing.

You do realize that since this is an Alpha test, having large quantities of exploit savvy players searching for ways to break your game is a desirable thing, right?

The Eve community is helping to develop this game the right way. By finding bugs and making people aware of exploits. granted, several of us are not team players. Eve after all is about screwing people over.

There was no bashing in that statement, however being a 5 year EVE-vet I would fully condone a bashing statement about EVE-Online players.

That game houses very vast quantities of the absolute worst scum of the entire gaming scene. People who do exploit, glitch, abuse and rape every single mechanic and loophole in the game to no end, only the desire to watch the game burn around them as their drive.

And the worst part is, it's just those types who are moving here. He's speaking the undecorated truth really.

What? As an EVE player, I found that quote hilarious.

EVE's obscure and undocumented mechanics have trained us well. Now we are a perfectly greased stress testing machine.

If there is a mechanic to abuse or a way to hack SOMONE will figure it out. I do play EVE and there is a lot of scum in there, but the developers keep squashing it so thats OK. Here, yeah the hacking sucks, but I'm sure Rocket has a plan for it to work it out. Maybe with Arma3 and the mod running in it they will have this sorted out.

Don't bash ALL EVE players, bash the losers who ruin it for the rest of us

and... Jack is spot on...

Whenever asks me what I think of EVE online players... I cannot help but think of the events which transpired with the Guiding Hand Social Club (GHSC) and what they did to the ubiqah seraph corporation... They not only performed such an unimaginable task of griefing, which took more than a year to accomplish, and which fully destroyed $16,500 worth (in real money) of in-game property, but the game fully allowed them to do so. By the rules of the game, they had done absolutely nothing wrong...

If you don't know what I'm talking about, I refer you to here It's a pretty good summation, and it gives links to the article in PCGamer

And that is why sandbox gaming is superior to all the other crap nobody wants to play anymore. People make the stories, not some mediocre writer.

Same as in DayZ.

The more options rocket adds the more we will get to a similar point.

So basically us Eve-online players have a reputation for being the meanest of the mean when it comes to sandbox games?

Alpha TESTING. If he's pointing the finger, it means you've done a good job finding the loopholes. That is unless you're exploiting them. Sort of like those EVE players did before reporting the bug. It was in the news lately.

Yes as Rocket isn't allowed to say what he thinks about people that play his mod and lets be honest we both know they'd all still buy it anyway.
