Tag & Release ep#15 – Not every hold up ends with success – Holding up geared players (6:51)

Recommended Posts

With the recent hard times on the hardcore servers, I thought I'd jump on the 3rd person server to find players due to them have always higher pop. Jumped back on an old character in Zelenogorsk and would be able greet a couple guests...with no ammo...

Overall it’s a very interesting encounter, but this scenario is also a valuable lesson in when controlling hostages that have friends.

See player - attack player, then say sorry. Pretty weak

Well If the game had ammo, then he would have been held up but otherwise I did what I needed to do in order to capture the player.

What had he done to you to deserve being axed down and captured? I just don't understand why people always seem to go for this option. You must understand that everytime you do this to a player, this player will most likely gun down the very next player they see without even giving them a chance, like you did. And the player that gets gunned own will most likely be me :(

If I had been that player and you had asked me for ammo, i would have given it to you, providing you're not a complete douche(many are).

Today i ran along the coast from Berezino to elektro. I met five players along the coast, all of them newspawns that had probably just gotten shot. Four of them attacked me, calling slurs and obscenities as I ran away and they wasn't able to kill me. Only one player ran in the opposite direction and avoided conflict. Sure, lots of people will say this is what causes tension in the game and such and theres probably something to it but I just see it as tedious boring behaviour ruining the gameplay.

You did do a good thing though in not just shooting him in the head right away as he lay onconscious, so kudos for that. Last time I did that i was attacked right away as my opponent woke up.

I basically acted like fresh spawn finding a decent melee weapon. If there is a opportunity that I can use my only weapon, aka a axe to obtain better gear "ranged weapons" then I will do it. It's almost laughable in trying to hold up a geared player with an axe, thus people just simply go for the kill.

As for walking up to a geared player and saying hello and being peaceful, I don't believe in the pacifist ideology.

Players don't believe in others, not to mention with the disaster of this current patch .55. Weapons and ammo are even more valuable than ever before, thus there is always a good reason to kill. But you said this person will always for the kill due to my actions. Not exactly, I always show my hostages mercy, unless they plot to kill me or are being rescued. Capturing armed players is my way in showing that there are more options than to simply kill. But never am I risking my own life over another in a instance like this.

Here is an example of me being captured by hostile players.

Unconscious players are quite dangerous, dis-arming them quickly will ensure your own safety. I don't trust players thus I remove all options from the table for them to counter-attack. I just didn't expect his back-up. I rely heavily on hearing the surroundings, such as footsteps and the door being opened. In this particular scenario it failed for me.

What you're trying to do is extremely difficult and it is interesting to see how you've tried to iron out all the possible problems with catch and release.

I am very opposed to KoS style play and I can plainly see you neither KoS nor grief.

Good luck.... you're going to need it!

To be fair, if he didnt, he'd get shot since you can see sobieski hit "draw weapon" :)

edit; nvm, thought u're refering to the guy gunning him down.

I tried doing the same, warning the guy to holster the weapon as he gains councious. He wasnt very found of my idea and tried to gun me down. Didnt work too well for him.

anyway nice video as always. I was slightly surprised you sent him in the corner whilst showing the back to the entrance.

PS 1pp videos are much much more interesting to watch, esp with your playstyle :)
