Large Names BattleEye Kick

So a buddy of mine tried playing with a large name he set in the .cfg file (on a private server) and he was kicked! I had no problem playing with a large name in public, thought that BattleEye had the same terms for both private and public servers.. so why would it kick him for his name, and not me?

I dunno.

 

I saw someone get kicked for too short a name once.

 

Poor CJ just wanted to play as CJ.  :(
