CJFlint 357 Posted April 5, 2015 (edited) So over all I think .55 is a step in the right direction. The new zombie AI, is great, the new loot system I like ect ect. I killed a few of those new zombies and there really not too bad. Def more too be careful about then the old ones but there not terminator zombies like some were making them out to be. Also I FOR ME it really is not that bad surviving in .55 at all. People were making it out to be really super hard now.....its not really, there's just less loot. But there still food every were. Its now a couple notches more challenging which was needed. But as always one must never be too optimistic or count on anything working correctly in the stand alone. I decided after hearing the news about persistants working much better, I would give it a shot and make a camp. So I did, I found a tent stored my ghillie suit, and set out too fill my tent. So I went out and filled a mountain back pack full of items and returned to the tent. I began moving stuff back and forth, all the sudden red timer. Now the server said persist ON. I had some trouble getting back on the server, when I did all my stuff was gone. It was like I never found the tent, and all my stuff was missing. What a bumber. The worst was losing that ghillie suit what a bumber. So It dosnt work. At least not the server I was on. I am not mad, more disappointed and un willing to invest a ton of time until some of this game really does work reliably Im sorry to say.I hope this game really comes together at the end. I also know that its early access. Edited April 5, 2015 by CJFlint
twr 43 Posted April 5, 2015 Iv lost 10 tents 5 m4s... etc... tents and backpacks are getting wiped with 1-2 server restarts... keep everything on your character.
Tiger205 48 Posted April 5, 2015 Eugen said it's supposedly only some servers that wipe tents after restarts but I've yet to find one. If someone has an IP of such a server I would gladly try it out. Otherwise I call bullshit on what Eugen said.
xCAPx 349 Posted April 5, 2015 Persistence is working very well on this server 185.62.204.75:2402 . I have three civilian and one mil tent on this server. My first tent stays on the server since the devs made the persistence wipe on april, 3rd (more than 50 hours and many restarts).I have also some backpacks, which stays on the server. It's a private server from fragnet I think, maybe that helps.
CJFlint 357 Posted April 5, 2015 (edited) Well like I said, I think the patch was a step in a positive direction. I do like many of the changes. The problem is we need to be able to count on features working. Other wise whats the point of investing a ton of time playing. Or just be told, it just not working so well yet, don't risk any thing impotant. It also could have been on a server that was bad I don't know. How would I have known that, that might be something worth exploring to. I am trying to be as reasonable and fair as possible. Velenon 13 Posted April 5, 2015 My tent has been kicking around for 3 days, I would love to give you an IP to test but I dont fancy inviting possible camp raiders
archamedes 238 Posted April 5, 2015 sounds like its a specific server issue and not a 0.55 dayz issue. Persistence works fine on our server got 4 tents and 3 trucks, had them ever since the hotfix kicked in
Tiger205 48 Posted April 5, 2015 It's a private server from fragnet I think, maybe that helps.Could be that private servers don't fuck up that badly but can't know for sure. Still I'm still looking for a public server to store my stuff on. My tent has been kicking around for 3 days, I would love to give you an IP to test but I dont fancy inviting possible camp raiders :rolleyes:Not helping.
Mizzou60 81 Posted April 5, 2015 I have completed another round of tests. Last night I began the second part of my experiments and today I logged in to see how it all shook out. My results are as follows… I set up 6 tents and planted 6 backpacks on 12 different servers. I went to a very remote location, set up a tent, dropped in some cheap loot, went to a second location on the same server, dropped an article of clothing (something with pockets) with and item in the pocket, then went to a third location and dropped a rag. I did this on 9 random servers and 3 servers I frequent regularly (on six I used a backpack instead of a tents). Today I logged into each server and checked the status of my loot. Only one server proved to be persistent while all others reset and wiped. The single persistence server was one I had never used before and it did not identify itself as persistent. Several of the other servers had “persistence enabled” in the description but still wiped. I have no idea how to distinguish persistence servers from non, but know this, there are persistent servers out there. A lot of time went into this test and using three different locations with three different items on twelve servers should cancel out the argument that some random soul might have wondered up and made off with the gear. BTW the single persistent server did in fact reset because I had removed ALL the loot from the spawn location and relocated it to my testing grounds. Today when I went back to the spawn location all new loot had repopulated. My suggestion, unless you know your server is persistent, don’t waste time collecting loot you can’t carry on your person. I posted this in reply to a thread on the STABLE BRANCH discussion board. I also posted here to further spread the word.
CJFlint 357 Posted April 5, 2015 Well GTA 5 is almost ready for early download on the 7th. That was something I have been waiting for and will hold me over for a while. So its not a big deal. Regardless either it works or does not work. Finding one server that works out of 5 or 6 seems kind of lame...One of option is to simply host your own server, but is 5$ to 100$ a month really worth it, unless it was a group deal. So from what I gathered here its a total crap shoot from server to server......in my mind thats to wishy washy to bother with.
