BCBasher 2465 Posted April 5, 2015 I think the OP's complaints are valid enough. The game is easy for geared up players and very difficult for fresh spawns. The result is that you will most likely die several times before getting any proper gear. How many times are you going to die, repeat, die, repeat, die, repeat, before you eventually just give up the game? Everyone wants to have gear and it's not really fair to have to suffer through an agonising fresh spawn phase that's based completely on luck. *snip* Really nicely put but there's different types of gamers/people. There's way to many quitters or whatever you want to call them these days. To that bolded, underlined bit there I would say "What is this giving up you're talking about, I don't understand?". I struggled a little with .52 or .53 learning the survival mechanics but it was die, adapt, take longer to die, adapt and learn more, live a couple days and die of an infection, learn some more, then live until I choose to get reckless and do something stupid. Some of us want a brutally hard game that challenges and rewards for the challenge rather than a special Olympics simulator that rewards you for showing up. RamJamSham 8 Posted April 5, 2015 (edited) Just killed two tomato farmers smirnovo, maybe if they had more weapons to defend themselves with they would have stood a chance. I did not kos them, although i thought about it. They did not want to be friends so i had to put them down after one pointed a sks at me. i hope they make it back off the coast alright, i decided to be nice and left most of there ruined gear and some human steaks for them because i know they are gonna be starving when they get 2k inland after a decent respawn. I think u win the game knowing that u black screened two ppl with more then 16 hrs on their characters most of which was picking apples and farming tomatoes. Kilroy92 1 Posted April 5, 2015 (edited) While i agree with the melee weapons need a buff. I have not problem finding loot. I keep finding the new windchester ammo but no gun. the .22 cailber weapon i always find and the ammo for them is quite plentiful. Avoid the big cities, this character i have now has been alive for a week and some change the only big city ive been to since .55 was Zelenogorsk ( had ok loot.) Check the hunting stands, all the sheds, outhouse ( a shit ton of stuff spawns in them ). the green guard towers at military bases and all kinds of cars/trucks. if you can find a small town/city with a police station, you will find plenty of submachine gun ammo/weapon. Has anyone used a crossbow or regular bow against zombies, if so how does it fare because my suppressed ak-74u and mp5 seem to still draw the attention of other z's Edited April 5, 2015 by Kilroy92
Bonappetit 117 Posted April 5, 2015 Bows are easy to get, you should give it a try. You can also place them in backpack in case you have a weapon already.
Velenon 13 Posted April 5, 2015 (edited) Hey OP, I hear you, for a few days back there I was tearing my hair out, squealing that loot was broken, nothing new was respawning and zombies were hardcore! I kept giving up and saying enough but I love the game too much having only started playing like 3 weeks ago, anyway I kept going back again and again like bashing my head against a rock. Now, I have a nice camp, a few weapons, food supplies, water supplies spare clothing, and this is after N00bing with a broken leg and finding a kind zombie to send me back to bambi land, worked my way back and had a second set of gear by the time I made it. I think the big difference for me was one of those restarts after getting eaten and having no rags or bandages and just letting the zombies have me I said I'm going to play this like it is real, once I did that everything changed, I went 3 hours as a bambi without being spotted by a single zombie, and when I did I just ran away. Also I realised open doors doesnt mean no loot, I've found good loot with open doors. Oh and look in the toilets!!!!!!!!!! Searching outdoor toilets has yeilded top grade loot for me. Assault vests, ammo, balaclava's, food............... hey its the apocalypse, dont judge, I see food I'm eating it ;) So I've survived about 3/7 Bambi's since 0.55 but since I started playing like my life was at stake, I've survived 3/3, so slow, calm and aware of whats around you and MOST IMPORTANT! Never ever give up!!! Be safe out there! I seem to remember also that someone said some servers actually werent respawning loot but I never confirmed that. I don't really understand this opinion at all. I mean games should not be so difficult that you need to put actual hard work into achieving anything in it. I get the appeal of achievement I suppose but that is certainly a minority. After a long day of work/school you don't want to be more stressed because you can't survive in a video game. Day z is already PvP, and that makes it difficult. You don't need to artificially make melee weapons into sticks of cotton candy or make basic loot impossible to find to add to that. Sure, people who are willing and able to put countless hours into the game will enjoy it but not casuals. This isn't WoW, it's Day Z.

Velenon 13 Posted April 5, 2015 Hehe I mean surviving the Bambi stage to become a nasty mean pirate! Argh ;D Nah just surviving to that point where you are fed, healthy and have some weapons / supplies and are no longer at risk of starvation and can start thinking about getting geared up, or farming, I'm keen to try this out now, also to try hunting but having not seen a single match since 0.54 I think I will wait. I have 2 flares but that is only 2 fires and I know I will probably mess up, so more looting for me first. Tents are now persistent as well as backpacks, provided you add or remove something from them every few days to reset their timers. Although Alpha so expect them to go bye bye at some stage, I foolishly thought that persistenence meant I could drop all my shiny waters bottles and water filled Jerry "Fuel" Can on the ground and they would stay there.......... this did not happen :'( It is also the reason I have not tried farming, my shiny Pickaxe and shovel disappeared. Avant-Garde 229 Posted April 5, 2015 (edited) Before melee was bad, because you circle strafe and spam. Now its even worse, because there is no point even in circle strafing, just stand there, take hits and hit the zeds. Really stupid, not realistic neither fun. This game always had a HUGE problem with melee, and the way things goes, I believe it will always have as melee is no longer mentioned by devs or the roadmap. We need defensive manuevers like parry/block/dodge so melee gets more realistic, otherwise will aways be this unrealistic shit.
