luggz 9 Posted April 2, 2015 Ok this may just be me speaking but, I believe that servers that are private hived for the amount of money we pay for them (twice the cost of a public server) We as the admins or community paying for that should have the option to enable or disable that feature. Not to mention if that was the case more people would go to private servers and they would make more income off of the servers. I see more not friendly game play due to survival. I.E players are having a hard time finding food so no more hey I'm friendly its more I'm taking your gear and killing you. I think forced Persistence is a bad option for private servers. At this point the only upper hand with private servers are logs. I watch logs 24/7 and review chat logs also. I'm always looking for that hacker, or the sorry S.O.B destroying the game for us players that are wanting the feel for what the game is about. At lease if your gonna force Persistence on all servers give the option for building a base or being able to lock stuff away that others cant access unless given a access code or something. I would like to hear some of your thoughts on this. Don't get me wrong I see pluses and minuses but if a server is bought on a so called private sell then we should have access to edit our settings. I see a plus to not as much hackers in a way like making the game so its real life situations there for it wont be as fun for them to play it. However on the same note I see more teleporting hacks and more stealing of gear. I like using tents and storing gear but for the ones that really know the map such as we do at -=Vg=- there is no convenient place to set up tents. I also can see a new game play a whole new lure of players I.E setting a tent in places for someone to camp it and await a player then kill them before they can get away with it. -=Vg=- Luggz
HIHBGaming 14 Posted April 2, 2015 As stated in another post. Persistence being a core game mechanic we should not have the option to turn it off. It defeats the purpose of it. We had the option before because it was a bit broken, now that it's coming together and it works(mostly) our option to turn it off has come to an end. It has always been stated that it was going to be this way. I'm not sure why anyone would be surprised that they actually did what they said they were going to do. ;)

Firstly i find it funny that you think you can catch any hacker by watching the current log files - there is basically no indication other then a player is stating to hack in the chat. This is DayZ an not H1Z1 - you will never have the option to "lock away" stuff. However your point of view is totally not mine i would like to see more log files etc. for admins - but in the end admins should have not the power to alter the game in a way that new rule sets are created. Persistence is such a thing which alteration would create a whole new set of rules for altered servers.
Weyland Yutani (DayZ) 1159 Posted April 2, 2015 I believe that servers that are private hived for the amount of money we pay for them (twice the cost of a public server) I think forced Persistence is a bad option for private servers. First of all, there is no private "hive." Its a shard. There is one hive: central...everything else atm is a shard. Secondly, a private shard isn't double price, its a 3rd more. Massive difference. I agree, they are over-priced, but lets not pull random numbers out of the sky. Forced persistence is awesome and its how DayZ SA is meant to be. You're not supposed to get new loot every restart. This is a survival sim, not LootZ. Firstly i find it funny that you think you can catch any hacker by watching the current log files.Nuke hack is easily detectable using logs. 15 kills in a very short amount of time with several kills on the same second...easy work.

No one said i had to be EXACTLY 100% to get to a understanding. Obviously you all under stood what i was getting at. As for logs Mr. If you come across a log chat where that guy is stating to another player " watch this I can teleport there " Well he is a hacker. In kill logs you see a guy getting 3 kills at 2:00:00 then getting 5 kills at 2:05:00 or even a kill every few seconds Well guess what HE IS A HACKER. your in cherno and a friend is in NWAF and you both can describe the killer and see who was the killer of both of you whiten 1 to 2 mina.... GUESS WHAT HACKER AGAIN. Edited April 3, 2015 by luggz
