Remove server skip timer after being kicked

Really annoying having to wait forever to join another server because some asshole server admin decided that 125 ms latency was too much. Please remove the timer when not logging out by your own will.

Forever is a long two minutes... Don't think they care too much about this feature at the moment, I'm sure in the future it will be tweaked for disconnecting and being kicked, but considering it works for now I'm guessin this one's on the back burner for the time being.

No. It's too hard to determine what was your own free will or not. You might think it wouldn't be but it would be blindingly simple to Alt-F4 out of the game or pull a network plug or Taskmanager-Kill Process to get out of the game for the purposes of Ghosting and Server Hopping which is why the timer exists in the first place.

Don't forget though that this timer has done nothing to stop those things. Edited by trev186

Don't forget though, this timer is too short. Besides, the real solution is no public hive. Problem solved all the way around, no timer needed.

dont forget the devs have stated that there will always be a public hive several times so get over it. Play on your private hive and don't bother with threads regarding the public hive

I see no reason to not comment on the flaws that a Public Hive has, especially if it alerts other players to the existence of private hives and the advantages they have. The Public Hive has been a major issue for DayZ since the MOD and I will continue to point that out when given the opportunity.

Oh the glorious private hives! Praise them and their small disconnected worlds were characters disappear into limbo every time you cannot join that single one server you played on last time.

Seriously the public hive has one major disadvantage in server hopping - which can be fixed without losing all of it's advantages. The myth about private hives being "the real solution" here is just that: a myth. No truth but it doesn't stop people from repeating it over and over.

Besides, the real solution is no public hive.
Not so much a solution and more of a pretty bad workaround. It's like "solving" KoS by removing all guns.

Back to skip timers: They should be significantly longer and grow further when switching servers rapidly. However, certain situations (joining a server after being logged off for a while, joining a server after being kicked, joining a server with friends that denied* connecton before, joining another server after the old one denied* connection) should get a reduced timer.

*For example by being full or temporarily passworded.

1. Server Hopping multiple servers for loot.

2. Gearing up on an empty server then jumping on a busy server.

3. Ghosting.

4. Inability to "secure" an area as it is very simple for someone to log in behind you, you can never be sure. It is less likely someone logged out on a private server in a busy area than hopped over from another server. 

5. Pick up a vehicle on one server that your group has locked down and use it as transport to get to certain locations on another server quickly so that when you die you can be picked up, taken to gear stashes, and then dropped near where you died on another server. 

 

All these were issues in the Mod and nothing has really changed for the SA.

 

 

Once we can start to barricade buildings and secure them they will have to do something about the Hive otherwise you log out on one server, open the door and walk in on another server, then log back into the first and you are through their barricade making it pointless.
