Some suggestions

Hey guys! 

Got some suggestions:

1. DayZ is for some people a laggy game already, aspecially when it's rainy! And it's raining so MUCH. Could that maybe be less?
2. Still those annoying server hoppers at the prison. Hopping 24/7. Should make the switching server count to about 3 minutes maybe?

What do you guys think

1. Fiddle with your settings a bit, that will make things run smoother.

2. Unless you make the wait time upwards of 15 minutes, hoppers are gonna hop. And doing so would fuck over people who have to log off for legitimate reasons. If you want to avoid them, I suggest private servers.

So your "suggestion" is basically to fix two of the major problems the game has at the moment?

For the second I have to agree with Sacha - you need a significant amount of waiting time so it is actually less effective to switch servers. 3 minutes won't do much. Though I think "fucking over people who have to log off for legitimate reasons" is the smaller evil. You could add significant penalties for frequent hopping while keeping them down for single switches (they should still be annoying but not destroy the experience) and/or add ways to quickly switch in certain situations (e.g server restarts).

Private servers "fuck over people who have to log off for legitimate reasons" as well. Because you cannot switch at all. Ever.

I do sever hop because it is still alpha and u want to test things so i guess the serverhopping will still be an issue in alpha for a long time till we get into beta.  Now i agree this kills the fun out of the game if it would be still possible to do in beta or official release.

 

What would work and not be too punishing would be a system like this:

 

- 1st server hop/24h 1 min waiting time

-2nd server hop/24h 3 min waiting time

-3rd server hop/24h 15 min waiting time

-4th server hop/24h 30min waiting time

-5th server hop/24h 30 min waiting time + 24h ban on all joined server in that 24h timelaps

 

Although we are still in an alpha game i would suggest these things to be applied just before beta hits.  Don't forget we are alpha testers on dayz not officially gamers.  That would only count if the game will hit beta or official release. :P

Server hopping: when you log out of server A, change your position on server B and log back into A with maybe 15 minutes (with a different position as when you left A), then there should be some kind of penalty (being unable to move for 3 minutes or such). When you switch from B to C, then there should be no penalty.

And so much servers kick players because the admins want to play alone and than you need to wait again 3 minutes.

DayZ dont know the diference of kick and exit thats the problem.
