WW2 Weapons

Recommended Posts

Im sure that they would still be modded in after full release, but i think it would be awesome to have in the alpha even though they already have the mosin-nagant id be excited to see them put in weapons like a Thompson, MP40, PPSH, Kar98, etc.

Weapons take a lot of work and time to implement. They want to add in guns, that have their own "wabam" about them, before adding in countless, random guns that people won't care too much about. Just wait. In time there will be more guns. Probably not the exact guns that you want added in the game, but guns.

The devteam are (Most likely) mostly looking at firearms that will have specific niche things about them

And it also adds more flavour to guns in the DayZ standalone

All the guns you listed use different ammo types

Thompson .45ACP. MP40 9mm Parabellum, PPsH-41 7.62mm Tokarev, and K98k in 7.92mm Mauser.

That is the problem, guns with unique ammo types will be a booger to find ammo for while you find the gun, and by that time you will have found a gun that uses ammo you have found and you will give up your quest.

But other than that im all for WW2 weapons.

Yeah ive been reading other weapons suggestions and it seems that they are wanting to put in more civilian grade weapons common to chernarus irl, which doesnt bother me they could put damn laser weapons and i still would play the game.

.45 ACP and 9x19mm for the Thompson and MP40 are already in game, so that wouldn't be an obstacle. (Though the Thompson isn't very realistic, and MP40 is passing.) The devs have hinted that 7.62x25 may be a possibility in the future so if they were to add a PPSh we'd obviously get everything else that caliber had to offer, but you're right in that its limited.

7.92x57mm Mauser is the only real obstacle there, because having three full-powered rifle rounds after .308/7.62x51 and 7.62x54R are split would be redundant, and 7.92 only has a few niche guns. And certain guns like the MG-42 have 7.62x51 variants (MG-3) or conversions (Israeli KAR-98s) so truthfully it's not necessary.

I love ww2 weapons so I'm always a yes for ww2 weapons. Thompson doesn't make much sense so there most likely not going to add it. Mp 40 is a maybe but were will it spawn. ppsh 41 can be a good realistic ww2 weapons since it was mass produced, still used by military(like little militias not full on military), and it looks badass. The only problem with this gun is that it uses rounds that are not in game. Theres already a mosin ingame don't see the point of k98k but it is still can make its apperaence(the .30 06 Springfield round is a popular hunting round and it will most likely make its appearance and so the m1903 rifle can come in with a scope attachment). There are many other ww 2 guns but many can still come in.

Ah yes the SVT-40

It's so much fun to shoot.

It would be such a great rifle to add in.

  • Uses ammunition already in the game.
  • Fits the location
  • Finding only one magazine would be required, you can load loose cartridges in using a stripper clip
