chuckz 0 Posted February 26, 2015 Regulating broadband like a public utility to ensure Internet providers treat all web traffic equally sounds like a good thing?
Jex 1104 Posted February 26, 2015 Hello, Does anyone have thoughts on the Net Neutrality vote today here in the US? I read that if this goes through, our choices in internet speed would diminish. Guys come on give a better explanation, please! This is important! The issue is that greedy corporations want to control the net and give people who pay more a better service and other people a shittier one. This is bad because everyone should get an equal service. So as I understand it, you'd be on a slower ring that rich people who would be on a faster one and it would just end up with everyone being charged more just so these assholes, who barely give us a decent service to begin with yet rake in the cash we pay them, can make even more money and take control of the internet. Net Neutrality basically keeps the net the way it is right now where we all basically get the same and it's fair and doesn't hand over the net to a bunch of greedy pricks who don't want to make the internet better, they just want to make their bank accounts swell from the bloated sack of shit they reside in. Greed - keeping back progress almost as badly as religion and delivery the shittest service they can get away with whilst keeping their shareholders happy. That was a totally unbiased view too, btw! ;)
fluxley 2228 Posted February 27, 2015 From what i understand its far worse than just that, The new proposals would allow isp's to charge content providers for a higher priority service, meaning all the big names get a fast connection and all the smaller startup companies and services are left unable to afford to compete, it completely goes against the idea of a free and open internet.
