Recommended Posts

So I have a qosmio x770-01h laptop

i7-2360 2.0gh 2.6turbo boost 6mb cache

8gb ram about to upgrade to 16

128gb ssd 750gb hdd

GeForce gtx560m with 1.5gb VRAM

Basicly running everything maxed disabled clouds and no anti-aliasing.

Normally get about 28-32 fps in woods and 18-20 in towns. New update and all of a sudden 15-18 in woods and 6-10 in towns. Went to check my nvidea control settings and now it says I don't have a nvidea card installed please help me. I'm lost without dayz

I had a custom laptop built around 4 years ago to be used for work and games.  I did a lot of research before having a boutique company build it.  The best thing I did was to get a cooling pad and then upgrade it's fans and the fan inside the laptop.  It's possible your vid card died, as that laptop is no longer sold, it's somewhat aged.  Games like this and laptops do not mix well, especially when the minimum requirements are barely met.  Replacing a laptop video card isn't like replacing a desktop video card.  They are much more expensive, and it's usually easier to just buy a new laptop.

I hope it turns out to be something easily resolved.

This this is a beast I just had it benched marked againts a brand new Msi I got 5300 msI got 8200.

I've been able to track down a gtx580m and even a 670m based on the mxm board style witch will fit. I paid a small fortune for it 3.5 years ago and I love the setup it's still relatively fast and although I'm not getting 60+ fps I'm was still getting a solid 30 maxed out. I'm just looking for some input

Your card just died because of the latest DayZ build ?

Hmm, not sure about that but I've heard a lot of people had some issues related to a recent Nvidia update.

Are you sure the GPU is dead (other games/roll back driver) ?

Sure a game can push the hardware so much that with improper cooling it will fail, but that isn't the fault of the game.

1. The hardware should have thermal throttling which reduces the speeds and eventually shuts it down.

2. The hardware should have proper cooling to deal with the operating temperatures so that thermal throttling doesn't engage in the first place.

For heat to kill your card thermal throttling needs to be broken (driver/firmware issue?) and you need to have inadequate cooling (dust in your laptop).

We'll I'm not 100% sure it's dead my computer just dosent show a nvidea graphix card it's running on Intel hd4000. I noticed shortly after the update that the textures allways seemed to focus in and out then a day or two later 20fps drop. I thought it was a an issue with my internet connection but I figured I could reduce the graphic quality in the nvidea control pannel and get it back, that's when I saw no nvidea card installed. Buddy's got it pulled apart now told me it was clean as a whilstle. Just for past info I used to run civ 5 or ksp windowed while watching movies so again I know what's the old girls capable of.

Could just be age, and possibly a coincidence. Who knows first time poster and not a computer guy just like playing the games.

I have a Toshiba laptop with a (dedicated) GeForce GT 540m and integrated Intel graphics (Optimus technology). After one of the recent updates (0.53, I think), DayZ will no longer run on that dedicated card, I keep track of whether or not my games are running on my GT 540M with the NVIDIA GPU Activity monitor in my taskbar. None of my other games have this issue. I am also lost without DayZ. Are you sure that DayZ is just not running on your dedicated card (the GTX 560m)? Have you tried other games?

Same card as me and I had issues too. I was able to play other games fine but I'd play dayz for 20 minutes and then things would start to go wrong. Eventually the laptop would shut down after 20 mins but would be fine when I restarted. What I discovered was the card was shutting down to save itself from overheating. I opened the laptop up and cleaned out the vents/fan and now everything is fine.

If I were you I'd open the laptop up, remove and clean the card/inside of laptop and check again.

Also my laptop has integrated graphics but you can't use the integrated graphics at the same time as the dedicated gpu so maybe something has happened there. I've a feeling the card is fine and it's a software issue. Try reinstall the card from the original manufacturer's drivers.

Meant to add that I and at least one of my friends have had odd hardware issues since the new battleye, corrupt files etc. So maybe the wrong file got corrupted.

You should report this on the feedback tracker http://feedback.dayzgame.com/view_all_bug_page.php

I've heard other people have similar issues.

Well, I reported this on the feedback tracker (http://feedback.dayzgame.com/view.php?id=22413), but I don't have much faith anything is going to get resolved. I've also attempted to play DayZ on my integrated card at 50% rendering resolution, but as you might imagine it looks and plays like total shit. This is so frustrating and disappointing. DayZ is my favorite game and now I cannot even enjoy it.

Did you assign DayZ to your dedicated card?

NVidia control panel -> Manage 3d settings -> Program settings -> add DayZ and check if you can assign it to your GT540m

Yes, it made no difference. I even reported this fact in my issue report on the bug tracker.

Update, pulled the gtx560m out re pasted the heat-sink have it a good cleaning and I'm back in business, working better then ever. I've put the 16GB of ram in, it's working. Still looking into upgrading to a 580m or possibly a 670m. From what I've read it runs on the fermi so I believe it's possible

My original problem was that when I click on the nvidea panel it would come up no nvidea card detected. So the option to do that wasn't even there. I did get on the phone with nvidea and buddy found me a new gtx560 for 220.00 I called toshiba they gave me an authorized part distributer, he wanted 500.00 plus shipping for a 5 year old board. I flipped on them
