tent persistence: when will they survive the weekly maintenance wipe?

ive searched, and i cant get a straight answer, but does anyone know when tents might survive the weekly Wednesday maintenance wipe?  is it supposed to be in the next patch?  was it supposed to work in the current patch?

 

pretty much pointless to have one at the moment and frustrating when you find this out after work today :)

Not to hijack the thread but how is persistence ever even going to work? Are items going to have a time limit for how long they remain on the ground without being picked up or can we expect to see the entire ground made out of books one day? Will some items be persistent while others aren't (such as backpacks, guns, and tents)?
