If you have a quality rig an aren't happy about how your game is rubbing, please, don't come here and complain about it before you take steps to fix the problem.

My rig ran the mod just fine. Maybe not on high settings, but it ran smooth. The situation was not the same with the SA. Pretty, but clunky as all hell. Yesterday I decided to do some google searches and see if I couldn't make some improvements.

I altered some in game settings, changed my launch parameters through steam, and adjusted my config files. My game was running below 20 FPS in many situations, and now after making these changes it hasn't dropped below 30 FPS once.

If dayz is making your computer run like its underwater, all hope is not lost. Even I you're practically computer illiterate like me, you can make dramatic improvements.

To be blunt this is kinda common knowledge. A better idea would be to post the tweaked that worked for you along with your system specs so others can try them.

Word on the street is it's only going to get better as well, I think a lot of people are really looking forward to the new renderer and optimizations as they get added.

Hello there

Why not share some of your gleaned uber knowledge rather than advising folk to go and fix their PC.

Other wise this is just a rant against complainers.

Yeah - good point orlok. OP, what adjustments did you make and what are your rig specs? People would probably find that helpful.

This is as good a comprehensive guide as I've found to date: http://dayzintel.com/dayz-guides/dayz-standalone-performance-guide

I did just the graphic options from this guide and it seemed to work pretty well, although I haven't checked the actual FPS gain.

Some of the stuff on there went too low for my liking, but it's a great place to start to see what kind of performance you get. Then just boost whatever you want until you have a good balance between what you like and what you need in terms of FPS.

I haven't tried the Steam booting options or config tweaks. I should probably do that and see what happens. I might even be able to turn some graphic stuff up higher. :)

@OP - if you did things that aren't listed in this guide, please post them. I'm sure lots of people would like to make any tweaks they can.

The iron giant linked the website I used. And like another said, those recommended settings are just a guide. I tweaked my config files several times before I was satisfied.

Edit: all knowledge is uber

any why dont the devs give us their uber knowledge as well.

launch params would be a good start...

i know arma3 has since gone away with most of the launch params were all used to. in favour of proper auto detect.
