Is the double barrel broken again?

Recommended Posts

Anyone tested it much this patch?

I used to use it a lot but have been taking a break from it.  However, there have been a few times I've used it and it seemed off again.  Shot a guy 2-3 times extremely close range and he didn't even bleed (in fact, he quite blatantly told me "hahaha I'm not even bleeding loser!").  Had other encounters where it took a lot of shots to kill some one too.  I've also tested shooting it against various walls and it seems to not make a spread once again.  The impact doesn't leave a mark on the wall, but the dust kick up is a tiny concentrated point.  It's an extremely different pattern from the pump shotgun and is reminiscent of when it was bugged.

I'll try to do more actual testing myself when I get some time but considering its history I'm just wondering if anyone else is having similar experiences.

OK I'm deeply worried - this is my fave arm

A shotgun at short range causes more damage than an automatic rifle IRL.. all things being equal, if you face off and pull at the same time, the guy with the military weapon is DEAD

If hes not dead he's on his back and he's not shooting at anything and he's not in a state to start bandaging himself either.. what the F - hes DEAD..

While I'm here - does anyone know please - You press 'T' to give both barrels on one trigger pull

But if you de-equip and then re-equip, does the gun re-set to single barrel per pull? ATM I have 3 shells, in the middle of nowhere so I don't want to experiment

(I'm growing pumpkins dude, ok?.. you keep off my damn patch..)

If you re equip a shotgun it still keeps the range you set previously, unless you log in.. I was only worrying does it also keep the single pull set on double barrel discharge - anyone ?

there is no indication. I'd like to be able to check, ya know?

I remember having to reset auto/semi-auto on weapons in the past when I re-equipped .; so I was wondering.

but if Bororm is right, don't make no difference anyway, might as well throw it at them, maybe cause some confusion.. sheeeet

I havent been able to test my sawed off on people as the AK101 works good enough in close quarters as well, but i havent had any problems with zombies or wildlife. The double shot seems to work as well. I havent tested if it resets or not, i can test it when i get home from work tho. Kinda hard to test its spread without a real target to shoot at.

Mind you i have only tried at really close range, which is the only way i would use it against other humans anyway.

In my experience the sawed off and pump action variants work a lot better than the normal double barrel which is odd and probably down to something bizarre and unexpected

When you guys hit zombies what does the blood shot pattern look like.  It just seems like it isn't a spread to me with the normal double barrel.  They do seem to drop in one hit though.

Patch didn't even release yet...

I'm talking about the current patch =P

Well I just spent close to 2 hours trying to find a double barrel but couldn't so I'm giving up on that for now.  I did find a pump shotgun so I'll have something to compare it to when I do find one at least.

It's probably not even worth testing since it sounds like the way guns work in general is going to change some what soon, especially considering how often they seem to fuck it up (still not saying for certain it is fucked up again).

I've got a sawn off with about 20 shells.

If no one gets you that reset info in the next 6 hours or so, I can try it when I get off work.

I was unable to "find a target", but my buddy got insta killed by a double shot last evening. Shot from across the street.  It was a regular double barrel, not a sawed-off tho. Ill try again this evening.

I have not toyed with the double barrel or sawn off much.

I remember there used to be slug ammo for the shotguns. Wonder why it was removed? Sure firing slugs out of a sawn off is a bit "weird" but why remove it?

Iirc (it's so long ago) the slugs and shells was present in the game before the shotgun was, and when the shotgun was actually introduced in the game, they removed the slugs from lootspawning at the same time. So there was only the few unicorn green slugs left that some players had in their inventory at the time, and these slugs couldn't be loaded into the gun. I believe they will reintroduce them at some point in the future.

I think someone should post this to the feedback tracker with proof.

Yeah that was my intention, once I get around to it.  If some one else beats me to it that'd be good though.

If some one could even just shoot a wall with one and see what the shot pattern looks like it would be helpful.

Didn't get a chance to try the rest out last night. Internet was down (gotta love AT&T) but it's on my actual errand list for tonight haha.

I'm still looking for a hacksaw. I think if you saw it off its classed as a "different gun" so I guess the sawnoff sould still work as before the patch.

Before the last patch I've blown people's heads off at short range with both - long and sawnoff -  and was 1-shot with a standard-long by someone who got the drop on me. Just saw the muzzle coming up and didn't have time to hear the bang.

Bororm could be right - and this is the "1 pellet" error slipped back in, for the standard double barrel. I need a box of shells and some close encounters to find out. (ok - one close encounter, I guess). Then put in a bug report -  it should be a simple fix as it has already been dealt with once in the past.
