Getting Whitelisted

Ok so I have been playing Dayz for a while now and it seems to me that the way forward is to get on a white listed server.

Not becasue of bandits but mainly becase of Hackers and the lack of things to do, where as if you have a certain role then that

will just expand the game more.  So I have looked at the whitelist criterior and the forms and such and it looks lilke a lot of work. ie short story about your character,  answering questions about rules blah blah.  I dont mind spending a couple of hours to do it its just that I have done this sort of thing before to get in clans and stuff, only to be told by some dude I am not worthy :blush: .  So who is white listed?  Is it easy to get on board?  do I have to grease some palms?  I understand its in place to put big kids and little kids off but I am a sensible gamer and have always liked the idea of role play in a game.

Each whitelisted private shard do their own whitelisting, most just need you to sign up to their forum and input your GUID.

It's up to you to find one that suits you.

I am not a kid or a hacker, but the criterion for being whitelisted on some servers/server groups is just offputting. You could write the most amazing story about your character and mention every rule but one, off the wall, small thing that pretty much everyone on the server ignores anyways and be refused. Streamers seem to just be whitelisted by default as far as I can tell, so maybe make some youtube videos and you're in.

 

Another thing on the RP servers is the text rp, I can't stand trying to interact (rp anyways) with anyone using text and most of the populated ones I've seen it is against the rules to simply walk away from player interaction, forcing me to sit there and deal with something I find to be more aggravating than entertaining. I guess its more or less uncommon, but at some point you will have to deal with this because some males like to roleplay females and don't want to sound like Dr. Girlfriend. Sometimes I just simply don't feel like interacting with people as well, but RPing based solely on a characters actions without communicating is against the rules.

 

Kill on sight. While I respect people's opinions and desire not to be immediately killed a few minutes after spawn, I do believe there is a place for it in a chaotic, post apoc world. I think that having strict rules of engagement and what amounts to the LOAC in an environment like DayZ isn't really 'authentic', I guess you could say, to the game. These things turn the game into a sort of chatroom with guns type environment. I just think the rules on these servers are too strict so they can pretty much find a reason to ban you if they need/want to, many are hypocritical to the realistic sort of immersion that roleplaying is meant to bring as well.

 

I would like to join a good normal, non-rp whitelisted server, but I just haven't had the time or motivation to put forth the effort for something that I would be automatically refused anyways. I just feel like the whole thing is sort of a popularity contest, that and the sense of arrogance some of these people have leaves a bad taste in my mouth.

 

If you do want to be whitelisted somewhere though, a good tip might be to browse their forums beforehand and look at the rules in detail, read some posts both from people explaining how to be whitelisted as well as the ones posting about how and why they were refused.

I suppose, if you want to join one that never has anybody on it. There are enough lonely, non-whitelisted private servers out there that fulfill that demographic and they don't really attract hackers either, in fact I have a favorites list full of them.

 

I just haven't found one I like yet, but that might be because I simply haven't looked hard enough. If I found one I really liked I might even donate to them.

I play on one such myself. All you have to do to find one is browse the server forum for a bit.

if you like to play hardcore i highly recommend oldschool hardcore dayz, active admins ingame and on forums, website chat incase you have something urgent, n4ttl (server admin) is almost always there.

 

only requires forum register and guid. (so far, it will change soon)

- 1 ) you want to play with other people or play by yourself ?

- 2 ) some Private Hive servers are open to all players ATM

- 3 ) you want to role play, but you don't want to say what your role is?.. er .. because they'll boot you for some little rule error?  How many times has that happened to you?

- 4 ) Did you ever join a clan.. ever ? So you know must know some are picky and some dont give a frag who you are ?

- 5) Look at the recruitment here on these forums - that's one easy way, if you can spare the time.

 

You have to find a place that suits you, if you've already decided that NO place will suit you - then friend - you've already found it.

But coming back to RolePlaying Reality, for a moment

I live in France... in my ping-area there are maybe 5 or 6 servers that are KEEN  on roleplay. They are all Public hive servers, and mention RP in the server title. Two of them want you to join their teamspeak channel, and if you don't .. they count you out (ya know?).. The others have admins who are around often.. Sure, they have the usual problems of public hive servers, but in the normal playing times - evenings and from friday night to sunday morning, they stay fairly cool and keep control of passing nutcases without making a fuss.

 

When I hang out there, I take the role of a 'foreigner' (my accent) , who is an independent backwoodsman/hunter who doesn't talk a lot, but might help you out. That's not a difficult role to 'play' obviously and its kind of done out of politeness to these people who are on on the server regularly. Apart from the 2 servers who insist you join their teamspeak channel, there is no joining up at all of any kind. But there is control (I notice occasionally) and there is some throwing out of folk who appear to the admins to be out of order (that's as far as I know, i'm not an admin there).

 

I think if you have to fill in a lot of forms, you're just in the middle of a bunch of control freaks. You're best not getting involved. There are groups to join where you get a month or two of trial, for instance, without anty big deal to "get in"

Really, check the clans (on these forums to start with). For me some of them are too much "beer and social meeting" and some are too much "You have been augmented to 7th in command of Group 149. Report online at 16:40 in uniform"

Maybe it IS the "bigger balls than you" problem, that ends in Blacklisted for Belphegor

but I think perhaps the key word in Belphegor's quote is "Donors" ..

 

it's all pretty new now - except for the ever present "join=kick" status quo, which will never go away from Public Hive servers.. (And I saw a Public Hive Server today with "Whitelist" in the title.)

that apart - the Private hive servers will take time to sort themselves out and get their own identity.. decide what KIND of 'private' they are (some private hives accept anyone who logs in at present)

So things will become clear as we go along, the places with good reputations will become known... the "others" will become known too.. there will sure be a lot of debate as well as various ads and pointers, on these forums.

 

I'd say - don't "donate" to join... donate afterwards IF its a cool place.. IMO

- don't fill in a lot of forms - because NO ONE is going to read them (would you?) and no one has any way of knowing if you're speaking any truth anyway..

 

give it time.. in the meantime see what the old established (respected) groups are doing..

. you should be blacklisted just for the name Belphegor IMO, (xx brother)... the YMCA wont let you in, fo' sure.
