A short note about having friends

Recommended Posts

Don't get me wrong, I'm a fiercely independent Lone Wolf when it comes to roaming around Chernarus. For all this game's insane masochism, I just keep coming back for more - and I usually do best on my own.

But this evening, as a small break from swaggering around with my perfect M4, SMERSH vest, etc, I fucked up badly. I pulled a deer steak out of the fire and ate it before it was cooked. So I got sick. My world turned grey in a way that normally only happens to freshies.

So I sent an alarm - to those who had helped me in the past, at least in part because I'd helped them in the past.

And these people ran to help me. They produced what I needed (charcoal tabs) within ten minutes of my plaintive cries. And within another ten minutes my world went from grey to glorious technicolour once more. Even if only at ten fps.

So for all the KoS bullshit. For all the intensive masochism of DayZ. All I can say is it's nice to have friends. So get some.

Normally, as I go about my despicable business IRL, I'm just as much a cynic, if not even more than most. But this episode has briefly, touchingly perhaps changed my view of modern human 'nature'.

My thanks to the glorious, enormously genitalled George Smiley and his accomplice in charity larsehh_

Encounters such as this, having friends to watch your back and those who KO's is what makes this game what it is.

I am no lone wolf I almost constantly run with a group of 4-5, However I do respect what the good lone wolves can achieve.

Its nice you had some reliable friends to run to your aid.

I would have shot you in the face and taken your gear. :)
