Supernatural horror that stalks you

2) I doubt you quite understand just how how hot jet fuel burns. Look at 9/11, there should be little to no building left, much less bodies strewn about.

Than that begs the question as to why most of that building is still standing.

 

If there is anything scary natural i would like to see though it would have to be fires. Not sure if its dry enough for wild fires but fires none the less would be a rather natural scary thing to try to live through. I was actually reminded of this with the jet fuel comment.

1) That...was the point I was trying to make. That building, and probably the ones around it, should be gone, or at the very least, severely damaged.

2) It might be dry enough, being Autumn and all (which means a lot of dead, dry leaves, twigs, etc...called "ground fuel".), but the terrain and vegetation type doesn't really suggest (to me) a preponderance for wildfires. For natural wildfires, they usually happen in "Chapparal" or "Pine Barren" type woodlands, which, unsurprisingly, make up a large portion of California and Arizona, some of the most "wildfire-y" states you see on the news.

What are you talking about? This IS supposed to a survival horror game. We have plenty of survival but no horror as of yet. Personally i find the game rather dull without the combined mix of the two. It doesn't have to be over the top but it LACKS the substance needed to scare the shit out of ppl. Yeah player interaction blah blah blah is all well and good but there needs to be things to keep you scared as shit beyond whats currently given even if its more realistic. There needs to be physical scares not just stupid mind fucks.

 

So, survival in a zombie infested game stranded almost naked is not horror enough for you? I don't need puny horror elements to get me scared

when i almost shit myself while getting shot or killed by endless of hordes of zombies and newbcakes.

If the player induced horror isn't enough for you as it is, I suggest you play on servers with greater than five people and head south.

when i almost shit myself while getting shot or killed by endless of hordes of zombies and newbcakes.

If your currently dying from zombies your playing the game wrong. And newbcakes can be avoided. Not all the time but most of the time if you try to stay away from hot zones for loot.

 

Im hopping the new zombie AI is enough to make ppl start thinking twice about the zombies as an afterthought cause thats really all they are sadly at the moment. And currently there are no hordes of zombies but im hopping that can be addressed within the coming months as well.

I actually like to think of having some psychological traits. Or just some traits in general. Like for example "paranoia" would work something like the sound glitch. Maybe some poisoning makes you see stuff that aren't real. Like boars looking like other players. That idea came to my head when my newbie friend was low on blood and he had a stalemate with a deer for like 10 min hiding inside a cottage waiting for me because there was "someone out there!"

 

Or just start of having some perks based on what the player did before the apocalypse that boosts something and perhaps gives an item or some clothing to start off with.

 

yeah, i know it's not dayz, but might spice things up a bit

See? Your buddy didn't need any new mechanics to shit himself in fear for 10 minutes straight. The paranoia came naturally.

Bears and wolves would do the trick nicely I think if some of them could spawn with hunting behavior i.e. not simply run at or away from you but follow you from a distance slowly advancing, stop and look at you when you see them, fleeing if you move toward them or make any sudden movements. If they are hungry enough they will return to the hunt. If they get to attack range they come in for the kill, perhaps taking you by surprise. Snapping twigs and rustling in the woods would be something to concern yourself about. You might get tracked for hours if you stay in the woods or moving out into the open might trigger the animal to make it's move.

I agree, so so SO much.

 

Whatever happened to the little moans, gasps, and phrases your avatar would make when injured earlier in the alpha? Those were pretty awesome, and some more in-depth screams, breathing, and groans would be even better.

Yeah! I would like so much to see some good voice acting. You know, man/woman really screaming out of their lungs, as it was happening to them. If well done, this by itself will be terror fuel for many people. Screams have a huge effect in our mind, they can really shake your emotional state and are far easier to make then visual effects I believe. Also, you will really not want to get hurt because you would agro zeds lol, that adds to the general tension imo.

 

Zeds could use better sounds too, I mean, just look at them. They have so much unexplored potential with sound effects, female zeds should make diferent sounds too imo. Would be nice if they did some really wierd disturbing sounds. I hope that the devs doesn't underestimate the power of sound in creating general game atmosphere/horror, we have a bunch of games that explore this and show how good it can be, like Silent Hill series (well, at least the first 3 games had godlike sound desining).
