Found out why suppressors might not work perfectly.

That handguard looks pretty funny too...

Yeah just noticed that.

Handguards: Upside down

Suppressors: Screw on top of the muzzle break/compensator instead of replacing it

You would think for a dev team of over 100 people they could hire someone that knows something about firearms.

Not the first company to be incompetent when handling firearms and it certainly won't be the last.

Very disappointing as its from the same company that brought us ArmA 2.

Assuming this works like Arma, they just need to move the proxy for the suppressor back a bit.

Should have spitted this in Buldozer or something anyways. Or at least internal testing.

Patience, lads. With our feedback, they'll get it all ironed out in time.

Or fix the suppressor, and in the process, screw up the code to somehow turn the gun into a server-crashing s*#& fest xD

Ya it puts it to shame already. This is still in alpha and its already miles ahead with much more potential then some silly mod.

What's currently in available to the public in the standalone is miles ahead of the mod? I don't think so buddy. I played the mod the second day it was out and it had more content then than the current game does, not to mention it actually ran better than the current game. "IT'S AN ALFER" is a cop-out; if a game's not ready to be released, then don't offer it. If you think the game is ready to be released and is in the state of this game, then it's not ready to be released.

That silly mod never crashes when I try to leave a server...or when I try to exit the game....or just because.

That silly mod also doesn't randomly break my legs when I'm in the second story of a building

Just saying :)

So mych hate in this thread.  I believe they released it to alpha to help fund it.  I also believe they did not think it would sell as well as it did.(just my opinon)  Is the game broken in it's current state sure but it is still fun and nice to watch a game slowly develope into a good game.

So the lead of the project can take off and leave it unfinished?

With their earnings they could have licensed a real game engine and consulted real world companies like Colt Defense and FN to feature their products but instead we have the game in it's current state where persistence is a joke and we have "CR75" pistols and other parody nonsense. Now the development team has no motivation to finish as it already received their profits upfront.

Who cares? I guess you do but I certainly don't.  I know in my work experience.  The so called lead or supervisor in my field is not the one who does the so called grunt work if you will.  If you are referring to Dean Hall this game was just an idea of his.  Even when it was released it did not become as good of a game, as the mod is currently.  Others took it to the next level. Hence Epoch , Breaking Point and so on.  He is a innovator if you will.  Others like Brian Hicks and who ever else are currently involved are the ones who will make this game great. Dean leaving means nothing.  He had an idea was paid for this idea and now he will move on to another chapter in his life.

I do not believe they have no motivation to finish this game.  Brain Hicks especially his name is all over this game.  Think for a moment if you would how more awesome of a resume he will have if he sees this game through and it is a very good game.  He will be able to cammand whatever he wants at his next company.  Good pay many perks, horses in the office if he feels so inclined (sarcasm)..  This young man has many incentives to make this into a good game.  He is young and intelligent he knows what he can achieve by finishing this game.

snip

Companies willing to employ anyone from this dev team will not care if the game is "awesome" or a "very good game". Its all about the profit margins. Also at this pace getting to "a good game" will take another several, several years. I can't believe this game went thought a price increase. Its hard enough scarping others together to play this game when the novelty wore off long ago.

But it is an alpha. Its not a cop out its a fact. Its like a half built house. The foundation is strong but there is more work to be done. Anyone who doesnt understand this should not comment about things they know nothing about.

It is Alpha.

Alright guys - this thread rapidly got off topic.

Some folks are getting a little salty in here and it needs to stop.

- We do not have over 100 people on DayZ

- If seeing incomplete, or bugged features/content/etc is something that upsets you. you should take a break and play DayZ once it releases from Early Access. Having access to development builds -means- you will see stuff like this.

- Claims that the company "does not have the motivation to finish the game" are not only massively incorrect, they are disrespectful. The DayZ dev team are hard working. and passionate folks. In addition, failure to finish DayZ (or finish it properly) would spell out an incredibly damaging consumer and industry reaction for both Valve, and Bohemia Interactive.

- Complaints about the title not being complete enough are ignoring the fundamental purpose of Early Access. If you don't like this, don't participate. If you've already purchased - take a break!

And lastly, I don't know what DayZ Mod you were playing FR4NCH but I've never played one that was as "feature complete" or leagues ahead of the state of DayZ currently. Not even my own DayZ Mod variant, Taviana.

Oh I've definitely got more fond memories/hours in DayZ Mod - but thats entirely due to the fact that we've got a long ways to go. We'll get there though, guys!

Only game I have played where the Devs actively read and respond on the forums.  That says something about their motivation.

You would think for a time in development where game functionality and underlying tech is the main focus, minor graphical bugs like this are not a priority. They happen, but they certainly do not require a hotfix.

I would say that's logical.
