Irish. 4886 Posted December 23, 2014 (edited) Yesterday.. I experienced a chain of events that led to my finding my first huey crash and "legit" smersh vest (found one in the xmas patch that was loot heavy, but that doesnt count really). I was thinking about how more than any other game Ive ever played, dayz has led me in directions and to places I could have never imagined and it is always a chain of events. A death leads to a respawn which leads to revenge on your killers. An accidental ambush leads to friends finding 2 M4's, leading to hours later, because of the chain of events, you finding a heli crash with 2 smersh vests. A random in game encounter, leads to your being taught how to play the game ....leading to you later meeting that person (who taught you how to play) again, at random, almost 2 years later. Ive had all of these experiences within the past 48 hours, personally, in dayz. What chain of events have led to remarkable, wonderful, odd, or memorable things that happened to you? guppy22143 1081 Posted December 23, 2014 I got hung up in a bad fight up at NWAF. Hooked in there for 15 minutes. Saw someone camping the airfield, so I took 3 shots as they ran down the runway. One grazed them, and they ducked into the fire station. I pinned him there, exchanging volleys as he tried to regain a dominant firing position. He'd lean, fire, duck, I'd fire. It was getting no where. I pushed to the fire station, peaked and we shot eachother. I took 3 to my chest, he took 2 to the head. Everything we had was ruined. With no rags or bandages, I bled out and died on the tarmac. Our futile, meaningless struggle for survival killed us both.I spawned near Otmel. I saw a lone freshspawn walking down the road. I approached him, and we exchanged names. We made conversation, and I took a liking to him. The conversation steered in an unexpected direction, however. I forget how it got to that point, but he looks at me and says,"I was just killed at the airfield, actually."I ask him"Northwest?""Yes. How did you know?""I just killed someone there...""Sorry""Sorry"

nuggit 246 Posted December 23, 2014 I had just built my first gaming rig, fresh to the world of online gaming and the digital world of steam ie; noob in every respect. DayZ had not been released but I had an inkling it would be soon, as I had stalked the forums, the hype was rife. 2 months later and Dayz was released to my delight. This was a harsh world, I needed to learn and I needed to learn fast. My noobiness was not helping my case I was in a small town I now know as Kamenka. I see a guy drinking from a pond. I creep up to him and squeak "hi" from behind a shed, I think I startled him. He introduced himself as Wade. We made small chit chat and after realizing I was very VERY new, he offered me a hand up, as he had a few hours in the mod. He seemed chill, so I agreed quite hesitantly. I have heard stories not to trust strangers. He advised me there was a military base nearby, and we should hit it up. So we run off to together in the sunset. We get to Balota shortly after. Seeing no souls around we ran through the tree line along the concrete wall opposite the hangars. As were running through the trees I hear "DON'T MOVE" It was coming from a fully geared guy with a long rifle pointing at me standing 5 meters from the airstrip. I think to myself, how the hell did he spot us. My noobiness and lack of spatial awareness was showing, I felt sweat build up instantly and my hands were shaking bad  He demands us if we have any weapons. To which I replied "dude, I have a feckn wrench, you have a feckn gun pointed at me". Wade burst out laughing, i was not. Geared guy "Pick up all my shit I am about to drop, your friend will pick up the mosin, it's loaded". He then stripped naked on the spot. "NOW PICK IT UP" he yells in control.I walk over and stumble through his dropped inventory, whilst he started talking with Wade. I was panicking and struggling to equip anything and my hands would not stop shaking dammit. I finally get his whole attire on my avatar, when I look over and see Wade holding the newly picked up mosin. The now naked guy starts walking away from us and slowly turns around. "I wanna go out cool guys, you there with the mosin, shoot me in the dick"! Even though Wade was holding the mosin, and I was pretty geared, I still felt like he was in control of me. His jedi mind could read my nerves like an open book. Wade seemed fine, like he was unaffected from all this. "ooook o o ook ok dude, you rrr rready, i iiim going tttto count ttto ttthreee" I stutter. "ooooone.......ttttttwo.......tttthree.......The mosin rings loud and true. The guy just stands there looking at me, blood squirting everywhere from his undergarments. "Well this is awkward" and then just turns around and runs off into the sunset. Wade and I burst out hysterically, I was no longer scared but filled with amusement and wonder. "dude, this game is amazing" I exclaim. I turned to Wade when I hear another bang my screen goes black.
BrainlessZombie 190 Posted December 23, 2014 (edited) Helping brothers to meet up in game, 2 serbian brothers were handing food and watter to bambies like myself by the coast, they were fully geared and got assaulted by a freshspawn that knocked one, took his gun and killed him while they were giving me some, so the other brother killed the freshie, i took all the dead guys stuff and crossed half the map with this nice fellow, chatting all the way, untill we meet his brother back inland, i gave all his stuff back i only kept my shoes and told 'em i was "healthy" so i would just run somewhere to get some stuf some other time since i was about to log off, i still play with 'em when if and when they're playing, odd and random things is what keeps me coming back do dayz. Irish. 4886 Posted December 23, 2014 I love the way not just life, but this game, takes you on journeys.. How things can unfold so softly, its only hindsight that allows us to see all of the connections that led us to the end. In dayz, its sort of a synopsis for life.. one day, the chain of events leads to everything going black... eventually.

IMO, this is by far the best thing in dayz :) it just seem to work so well. Every respawn you get is a brand new story.Unique and unlike any other. mugur 123 Posted December 24, 2014 (edited) First of all, i must apologize this must be sort of long post... I have to start by telling that i don't play. Ever. At the begining of this year i was reading around the net "targetless". Just trying to relax. I've read about dayz by chance and pure luck. The concept sound new to me and interesting to say the least. I have a military backround. Some that the western people use to call "sniper" but in my country the term was different. I am an outdoor kind of man by nature. I thought that this "game" could be something i can try considering all the facts, so i bought it and started to play with the version .31 or so. Kept playing till .42. In that period of time i've realised quite fast that there are little things to do and while i don't blame any kind of players (including hackers, loggers or Kos'ers) none of them were something that i would like to do (please keep in mind that i am talking only about myself). So, after i reached around 150 hours i thought i would like to help people. Medics were really established by then and i thought "what good will do one more medic here?". So, i have decided to bring them what they can't find. By any means that means i was able to find anything...no. But sometimes i've got lucky and some item that does not mean anything to me could be usefull to somebody else. So i've started a topic here (should be burried probably) telling people that i can meet with anybody on their own terms to give them what they want. Of course that some thought can be a trap, others told me that i will be killed instantly (which never happened by the way) and some other different considerations. Nonetheless i've hold my ground and started. The very first person who trusted me was IRISH. He met me in a remote area where i give him an item he was looking for. Then we've met again. But that very first encounter on this terms gave me the reason to keep doing so. He is an incredible person and i don't care how is he behaving on his own playstyle, with me he was true to his word and did not kill me. As i have explained in my said topic, even being killed (i've assumed it will happen) will not matter that much because i can start over. Sometimes finding what people wanted took me days, other times just hours. To the topic now: after several months not playing due to personal reasons, i've started again in the same night with .52 stable release, the night with DDoS attack. Of course i have lost my both characters (hardcore and regular) and i started again from scratch. After couple of hours i've met a guy in a city up north (that i have never seen before) inside a firestation. He was armed and did not see me. I was armed too but my goal on this phase of the game is not to kill people. Is still no reason for me to do it...FOR ME, remember. So i crouched and said hi. He said Hi too and went outside fast. I've asked him if he needs anything but he said no. I bet he was confused by the tone he had :) Then i said Ok and leave. Amazingly enough he did not try to shoot me either... Several hours later i was on a RP server (yeah, right) where from time to time the message from server said something like (behave, we have active admins, no KOS, etc etc etc) when i logged in were 23 players on that server and i was up north. Started my way dow to SW in hope that i will reach that Mishiko base or whatever that name is because during my hours in game i've noticed that there is some shortage on magazines. I've arrived there and crouched for around one hour watching. Then went inside the base and to my total surprise the base was full with loot. Full does not even describe properly... literally hundreds of pistols, SKS, AK74U, Makarov, compensators, you name it. I don't even want to talk about dozens of military vests, backpacks all of them, smersh, hunting, whatever. So many that when i pressed inventory key, the screen struggled to show me everything... I've took only magazines and watter. When i was about to leave, 2 people rushed inside the same tent i was (officer tent) and i went outside while they were running inside. While i was looking for cover, one of them started to be friendly to me. Shooting me that is. He missed (i am not exactly new at this and i was shot after many times, so you can assume i know what to do when i am under fire). While he was yelling something, his friend kept shooting with a gun that i don't recognize by sound...Might be the AUG though... All this time i was putting distance between them and me. Long story short, i made out alive from there with all magazines i could find (not so many magazines actually compared with the huge amount of guns, especially pistols, and literally tons of 9mm amo, .45, .22 and 380 auto). To the original post : What led me here/now was my meeting with Irish. If he would have killed me (he being the very first encounter in my endeavour) i would have scratched my idea and probably doing something else. But now, no matter how many people would kill me (or try that is) i will keep doing what i do. I wish you all Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year! P.S. i would do the same "samaritan" thing in a real world like Cherno?Hell no! Even more, i bet i would be one of the last survivors. But for now i will keep dying and start over. Irish. 4886 Posted December 24, 2014 (edited) Over 9 months ago Mugur and I met in game at Green Mountain. It started a friendship, and now I learn ...even more for my friend. Mugur.. it was a pleasure meeting you. Truly. And having you return here after all this time, remembering our encounters together.. it made me feel very nostalgic and emotional. I did not know I was responsible for sending you on that path in part, by not having killed (which was never even an idea I had.. I knew you were a man that I could trust and would never want to harm that trust in any way) you. Thank you Mugur. I feel like life is small sometimes, even though it is so massive. I hope all is well for you.. I wish you luck in your future my friend, in what ever you may do. Merry Christmas Mugur! (for old times sake, here is a video of that very first meeting of ours.. originally posted shortly after it happened, to prove to others responding on his post that he was a man that could be trusted and would follow through on his word once he found your gear) Edited December 24, 2014 by lrish
mugur 123 Posted December 24, 2014 Hell yeah! Just remembered...seems like a life time ago...Because of Dayz i've bought the latest model of ASUS ROG at that time: G750 and added a "monster" SSD drive to be on the safe side. And i am so happy because of that too! Incredible machine. Irish, i've tried to message you on my first day back, but you can't receive messages it seems. Please add QAVRO to your steam friends so i can meet you again.
Irish. 4886 Posted December 24, 2014 (edited) I couldnt seem to add you on steam, but PM'd you here with my steam info..see if you can add me? I play here, and have a teamspeak channel, etc.. my clan I started is doing quite well, and even though we focus on KOS because we find it fun, we are very respectful and do not always shoot people. Sometimes we are very friendly, just not at the risky military areas.. http://www.gametracker.com/server_info/208.115.125.82:2502 It would be wonderful to meet you again.. if you get a chance to try out our server, you'll find a lot of other helpful, nice folks there.. again, just not at the military areas. Those are designated hot zones, and apparently there is another clan that is cannibals that often runs around Novodmatrosk. The newer large city up North with the tall town square tower. threedogification 41 Posted December 24, 2014 On our role play server, we had a camp set up at green mountain with 8 men with me included. We were all doing our own business when the spotter on the tower sees someone in the woods. The gardener grabs his ak, and our leader, yuri, started setting up the machine gun. Soon, within five minutes, we were under siege by about five different bandits, probably in a clan. Under our noses during the conflict, someone snuck in through the back and captured on of our men. They walked him into the conflict area with a gun to his head. We stopped shooting, and tried to negotiate. In a turn of events, they used him as a shield and walked up to our gate. I was in the tower, with my mosin. I trained my sights on the bandit's head and fired. As soon as the bandit dropped, they shot my friend and killed him.Our sniper in gillie snuck up behind their lines and shot two of them with a silenced ak. At that time, a truce was called and we took the other two bandits hostile. We were holding them hostage, and most of our other guys logged off. About an hour later, we were invaded by another bandit offensive, but it was only two really good bandits. They came in and held us up.Right before my death, I pulled my cr75 and shot one of them multiple times then was put down with a bullet to the head.I sat for a good 30 minutes at the "you are dead" screen as I heard the bandits , now four of them, cut up my dead body and feed it raw to yuri. Dayz is a bitch of a great game .Rest in peace those who died in the battle:Rocko BensonJohn AndersYuri KoreonkovHarold JenkinsAnd the multiple unnamed bandits killed in the First Battle of Green Mountain.
