Hi everyone,
I know there has been many threads already about the 50.cal weapons in DayZ, But I want to discuss about it once more...
The developpers think that the heavy sniper rifles don't deserve to be in DayZ but how so? They've been in the mod already and for a long time. 
Their main argument is, "you have the DMRs, it's enough." 
Well sorry but not really. 
Tell me the L85 AWS with thermal scope is far too op, I'll say yes, tell me the AS 50 is too op, I'll say yes, but the M107 is just what we need. 
When you want to take down an aicraft, when you want to destroy Heavy wheels or engines while you're ambushing a road, when you want to kill someone at 1000m away, you need an M107, not a DMR or even an Mk48.
If you make it rare, more rare than the NVGs or rangefinders, it won't be too op.
Please reconsider this.

if they make it weight as much as it should and also make the ammo have weight then i'd go for it. but not till stamina and weight affects your toon. same way i feel about LMG's stamina and weight to me are a game changer as well as disease and cutting back canned food and sodas once all these things get added add what ever gun you want IMHO.

If they exist a server owner can very easily make them spawn everywhere, they had to ban them in the mod lest this happen. There were other considerations as well like the distance they aggro'd zeds from, same as helis they tanked framerates in the mod

That's another problem, stamina used to affect your toon. Regardless the weapon you were using. And yes it was more realistic. Another thing they removed for.. what? 

I feel like, soon they will remove all the sniper rifles and say "what? you guys don't need them, you have the winchester!"

As to the M107 I'm on the fence.  Back in the day the typical gear cheaters use to log into the server with the typical hacker load out which included a .50 cal.  The guns became much more prevalent than the loot tables would justify.  Maybe make it so they can't use a backpack due to weight as a compromise.

Good idea, I wouldn't mind that!

OR make it super rare like less than 5 per server. But I think Geryon's idea is best. Why? because who will prefer an M107 than a backpack in game? Only 1 guy per group of survivors, you can't survive on your own with no backpack, it's not survivable.

So who will us them? groups of survivors/bandits looking for some pvp.
