canuseemygrapes 1 Posted July 1, 2012 As Arma2 isnt the most refind when it comes to movement, my suggestion is to implement the Shack Tac Movement addon. http://www.armaholic.com/page.php?id=12540&highlight=SHACK%2BTACOnly the ST_Collision.pbo is needed. ST_Evasive could be handy tho to stop Arma's "accidental evasive moves".For those who play Arma2 and use shack tac know the huge benefits of this addon when it comes to narrow alleys, corridors and doorways. Far too many times we get stuck in tight spaces due to the clunkyness of the engine. Please consider this addon, both RG and Dyslecxi allow this to be added to any mods if they are asked first.Thank you for the opportunity of maybe getting a more user friendly mod.Grapes....
canuseemygrapes 1 Posted July 1, 2012 Really, plenty of views but not one comment. I would have expected someone to reply telling me what a good/bad idea, I know I would have +1'd the idea
KWilt 157 Posted July 1, 2012 I'm pretty sure this has been brought up here before. Not sure what the reception what then. (Lost track of the post, but I could find it if you give me some time.)But that aside, I would love to see it in the mod. I've had one too many times where I just can't understand why I can't side-step through a doorway. I have to put myself into a fairly disadvanted position to continue the game in a way where, realistically, I could play it safer.+1EDIT: Found it! At the time, I didn't have a forum account, so that's why I didn't post. But I definitely thought it was a great and realistic idea. The physics engine of ARMA at current, with collision, can be pretty wonky at times.
KWilt 157 Posted July 2, 2012 Is this thread really going to go unnoticed again? Without any criticism at all?
leo235 2 Posted July 2, 2012 i guess nobody knows your strange addonyouveneverheardof.pbo and thats why we cant answer.if its good I want it.
ZomboWTF 527 Posted July 2, 2012 i dont find it that bad, of course with small houses you cant walk with your gun pointing sideways through a door and maintain aim, your gun would have to clip through the doorway then
earion 3 Posted July 2, 2012 i guess nobody knows your strange addonyouveneverheardof.pbo and thats why we cant answer.Yes, a lot of people do. At least Dyslecxi knows, so Rocket should know.Of course, it is a very very good idea. Nobody will be sad of not being stupidly blocked in doorways. The problem is, if you want to make that suggestion and being heard, as the DayZ community is not really about other ArmA2 mods and subtle changes to gameplay, I guess nobody will answer so nobody will ever read - you ain't gonna get 100 pages of trolls, so it will not be considered important enough to read by the modo/dev team. Or will it ?Perhaps you could make a feature request on the tracker, I'm sure they will read it there.
KWilt 157 Posted July 2, 2012 i guess nobody knows your strange addonyouveneverheardof.pbo and thats why we cant answer.if its good I want it.Funny. There's a link in the OP with a video on the other page showing exactly what the addon does. But I suppose ignorance gets the best of us~On a more serious note, I actually just remember another reason why I would love this: You cannot sidestep along a barracks hallway with the doors open. It's always been a pain because if someone is in one of those rooms, I have to stop and turn to even be able to try and hit them. Which if I was going into a possibly hot building I wouldn't realistically be wasting so much time moving about.

canuseemygrapes 1 Posted July 2, 2012 For those that have bought Arma c/o purely for Dayz, then this request will make no sense to you at all.The fact that you cant run any mod with Dayz, and that you havent even tried to play the domination/warfare/evo missions, or in fact even tried out the 1mb addon yourselves. So far, just from Armaholic alone "Downloaded : 3531 times". There are many more site just like the holic that ALL host every addon released for the Arma2 community. The info on Armaholic is what the addon was released with, along with the said video. Can you honestly not see the smoothness in doorways and around building edges? Like I said in my other posts, the people who know what they are doing with this game, know which addons/mods would make a good mod into a great mod.I will post this request anywhere it is needed, so that the people involved with Dayz might actually see the benefit of Shacktac Movement.EDIT----Just posted a request on https://dev-heaven.net/projects/dayz/issuesHope it gets looked at by someone
wolfstriked 143 Posted July 2, 2012 Great suggestions go unnoticed on this forum for odd reasons.People want things added that boggle the mind but excellent suggestions are ignored. This will allow you to look around corners instead of having to first look straight ahead and move forward at which point you can see if it allows you....most likely not.Wtahc the video for an example and like this idea since it will greatly enhance DayZ!! :)
KWilt 157 Posted July 3, 2012 Bringing these two back up. Over 12 hours is a reasonable bump, I would hope.
SystemiK 366 Posted July 3, 2012 ST_Evasive seems optional, but considering how wonky indoor movement is in Arma 2, ST_collision would seem to be mandatory for anyone who wishes their mod to feel smooth and fluid. These 'mods' are really not mods in the usual sense, they both involve only a change to a couple of settings in the .cfg file. The reason we need them implemented for us is that they require a setting in the server file to allow them. There is a downside to ST_Movement however, it means that the barrel of your gun may clip through walls at times (but this does NOT mean you can shoot through walls) just that someone on the other side of the wall may see the tip of the barrel protruding through the other side. The reason the gun does not shoot through the wall with this setting enabled is that the chamber of the gun remains behind the wall, so the bullet will still hit the wall if you fire.I believe this setting is also a variable, so the effect can be 'toned down' in order to keep things more realistic. I just cant stand having my gun barrel constantly hanging up on buildings etc. It will surprise me if they dont give this setting a try at some point during development, it can always be removed again if people are unhappy with it. However, looking at that video of ST_movement, I don't see how anyone would think the current value is acceptable. We need some compromise here...
zamp 4 Posted July 3, 2012 I second this mod, looking at the video it seems 10 times better than what it's now. I get stuck in houses all the time.
wolfstriked 143 Posted July 3, 2012 I have it enabled in DayZ and no error came up stating its not allowed.Have not found a weapon yet so I can't be sure.
SystemiK 366 Posted July 3, 2012 From what I've read on the BIS forum, it needs to be enabled on the server side as well.
