I need to help for my server problems (Loss character)

Recommended Posts

Guys i have some problems on my server. Please help me for this. When i asking  hosting company  vilayer about theese  problems , they are telling me

all servers suffer from the joining bug it has not been fixed an has been happening since 0.45,Only join the server after about 5 minutes, if you join while it is starting up there is a 90% chance it will delete your character '' Doest it true? Because i played 900 hours dayz standalone maybe i get this problems 3 times.I never saw server problems like this after restart charecter lose and other problems you will see my questions there..

1)I played 2 hours get good chareckter and just exit game and return my server 4 min later ,my chrachter lost. All our server players and my friend faced with this problem.Players dont want to play our server and they leave ! Charecter is most important in this game !

2)Other problem is after restart server if you join in 1 2  min your charecter lost again. We need to wait 2 min then we can join for not disappearance of the character .

3)when we open persistent on panel no spawn items after restart on server. All the time same. When we off persistent we can see new items after restart its good for us but we cant use persistent .We do not benefit feature persistent

4)My other question is about private and public servers.Could this errors originating from private server? If we change our server public will we get same problems? I just wonder that.

I can help answer questions 2 - 4  but for question 1, its hard to determine what exactly it is your doing that is causing this.

As for question 2: This is a known issue and is indeed still a problem if you join a server too quickly after it restarted. If you watch the server browser closely after restart in the server browser window, you'll see the server come back up but it will indicate the time as 08:00 followed by 09:20 and then eventually will show the correct time your server should start at. Just wait until your server or any server for that matter, shows the correct time before rejoining. Usually I'll get up, stretch my legs, get a drink, etc etc before I hop back in. This will ensure enough time has passed before you join ;)

As for question 3: This is the way persistence is supposed to behave in its current state. If you have it enabled on your server and the server restarts, loot does not spawn new upon restart. Persistence has its own method in which it distributes the loot across the map. Currently there are issues where you'll find areas with no loot at all and other places where you'll find so much loot it drops your framerate  b/c there is so much on screen. The idea behind persistence once its working "better" is that you'll be able to store items in a location of your choosing and not have to worry about losing them when the server restarts; all the items will still be there after the restart.

With the current state of persistence the way it is, we too don't see any benefit from turning it on currently. The Dev's are working at improving persistence so hopefully early next year we see improvements worth turning it back on; but for now we have it turned off on my server.

As for question 4: I really don't think the issues you're seeing have anything to do with public or private. Persistence will behave the same across both and as for the character wipe issue; certainly abide by the rules above I mentioned in question 2; just don't join up until you see the server's time displayed correctly in the server browser. The only other thing I can add in regards to your character wiping every time you play on your server is issues dealing with your server not connecting to the main hive. You might want to explore this thread and see if this adds up to the issues you're seeing:  http://forums.dayzgame.com/index.php?/topic/167343-servers-with-connection-issues-to-central-hive/

Good luck and let us know if you have anymore questions.

- this is very true, wait 1-2 minutes after the server reboots. As Admin of vilayer server, I can honestly say It has happened to the best of us.

You can lose everything.

Persistence on, helps.

Ours is currently off to experience some of the heli spawns.

This may be an issue with the server not connecting to the central hive properly. Even though your server is a private shard it still has to connect to BI to save/load character files and the like. Look into the post mentioned by The Riddler, or contact your server host.

There are no respawns on restart on persistent servers. The items respawn when you pick up something, but in a different place on the map. Seriously, turn persistence off until the game developers can confirm that the loot economy is fixed (probably won't happen before february/march), unless you are crazy about being able to use tents/persistent storage.

I tend to find the safest way is to connect when the server time says XX:01, as this indicates that the server is indeed up and running and has not frozen on restart. I've had our private shard wipe half the characters on the server when it froze at XX:00 after restart, any players who joined (until I restarted the server again, manually) lost their character. Definitely a hard blow to our player numbers there. :/

That's a good idea. Always join at xx:01 or xx:31 if the server starts on the half hour. Good advice.
