More dynamic relaxed stance animations

Recommended Posts

I got this idea while thinking about a way to add lying down on your back, it would open up lots of options like stargazing, being comfy in a tent, maybe even shooting at someone behind you while prone.

I was thinking it could work similarly to the f2 surrender animation which is different depending on what stance you're in.
F3 which is currently the sitting down animation could become the key for a stance specific relaxed animation; if you're standing f3 would squat, if you're crouched it would do the current sitting animation and if you're lying down you would roll onto your back. I'm also envisioning being able to aim a weapon while lying down like you can with the current sitting animation which could be especially useful when aircraft come in.

I would love to see more stances, I actually think about this alot. Personally I would like to see more casual stances also like resting you rifle on your shoulder as you walk but its only available in the walk animation like the way you speak of.

That's actually a really good idea too!

Yes! The thing is with dayz all these little details like this is what makes the game so unique and amazing.. and alot of these small details eventually add up to something really worth waiting for.. I'm even thinking stuff like when your char is standing still maybe there is an action you press that is somewhat subtle.. where the char just does small actions like scratching the head or rubbing your face.. but hopefully we will see things like be able to eat or drink while sitting down because currently we cant do that and I hope we see those small things patched up first :D

It was great to hear in a recent status report that they're working on animations for coughs and sneezes and other illnesses, stuff like that really adds to the atmosphere.

In regards to the sitting down and eating thing i think its something to do with how the animation system can't do two things at once, but they're working on separating the body into two parts which will fix loads of issues like this.

I wonder what will happen when we run out of function keys? i don't really like the idea of a ui menu.
