colt python vs repeater for cherno killing

Recommended Posts

me and my friend came across a few guns with a crap ton of ammo. I got an m133 with 111 shells and get a python and a repeater with 70 rounds. is the repeater good to keep around or should we just toss it?

It is reliable. Ammo for it is abundant. It is precise. Rate of fire is a bit weak. I think it is a good mid range weapon. Would let it go for a SKS or a Mosin. But it's all about personnal opinion.

the thing is: there is no velocity-difference between the revolver- or repeater-fired bullets.

(actually: longer barrel = more accuracy & higher velocity. Higher velocity => higher damage dayz-wise)

The Reaper holds 11 rounds and is more accurate.

The Revolver holds 6 bullets, fires a lot faster, and is also decently accurate.

IMO, I'd throw away the mp133, and stick with the revolver+repeater. The reolver can kil in CQC with 1 bullet to the head, too. 2-3 shots and the enemy is dead for sure.

Shotgun-damage was nerfed  by -x10 with the last patch. the dmg-value went down from 60 to 6. Try to kill a player with the shotgun now, and you'll see what I mean. (there is even an own thread about this "feature"/problem).

The repeater model and animations put me off what was at one point my most wanted addition, the magnum however is one of my favourite guns despite how much I want to hate it.

I love to use the MP-133 (short or regular) and I can kill unarmored players in one shot to the body (headshots are always a kill ofc) and armored players with two shots to the body...pretty reliable and powerful IMHO

really? that's new (for me), because I'm almost 99.9% sure the dmg was nerfed quite hard.

I know shotties tend to be a bit bugged from time to time, where only partially shots are registered, and thus, the shottie only deals like 40% of the actual damage.

But it's good to see the shotgun works as intended!

Yeah it has been nerfed, that's why I stopped picking the Izh up...but at least the MP-133 is OP as hell

When I don't have a semiautomatic rifle, the Repeater/Revolver combo is my go to setup. One caliber feeds all, and .357 is pleanty powerful to put down anyone with a round or two.

Quick Sea story:

A couple of nights ago my group of four stopped in the hospital on the west end of Cherno to rest/shuffle items around. We had somone watching the front door and I was on my way to the roof. While we were there someone came in and started shooting. He was promptly killed and the standoff began. The guy coming in was with a group of 4-6 we think. From the roof I shot across the street into one of the apartment buildings and pinned a headshot on one of his buddies with a Mosin. Two more of his friends attempted to rush the front of the hosp and they were promptly killed by my friends holed up downstairs with AK's w/drums. I saw a fourth guy with an SKS running in the sort of open lot area north of the hosp. towards the apartments across the street from me. I fired three times at him, twice hitting him. He died. The final guy came up one of the ladders to the roof (and admittedly took me slightly by surprise) however, where I was laying gave me the drop on him and I emptied my revolver into him. The final score from this encounter was 6-1.

The above said, definitely a viable combo.

Nerfed or not, I still like shotties - and Magnums. I took a guy down in two shots from about 30-40 feet away, and I wasn't even aiming that precisely. Not really big on the repeater, but that's mainly because I'm not a good shot with it.

My current set-up is the MP-133 as my main weapon, Magnum as side-arm, and a sawn-off/derringer combo tucked in my backpack for that surprise effect. I've got no need for magazines, clips or attachments, and ammo is plentiful. As soon as I find the elusive pistol-grip MP-133, I may ditch the sawn-off.

The nerf brought it to the point where it should be. However, there seems to be a bug that prevents all effects on players from being applied. There is a video where the player gets hit and fracture messages are popping up. But seconds after when he opened his character screen he was healthy and without fracture.

As for the .375 Magnum weapons the Repeater hold more rounds, is more accurate and takes less inventory space while the Python is easier to handle in close quarters, shoots faster and can be wielded as a secondary weapon. If you want a reliable mid-range weapon without bothering about SKS ammo keep it - and its even accurate at long ranges if you manage to aim it (which is harder than it sounds as you are limited to iron sights and the round is quite slow) but inferior to a Mosin or Blaze.
