Anyone else having problem with Character reset alone?

I've been playing DayZ  with 2 other RL friends of mine for over a year now on and off. 

 

We had not played in a while so we gave it a whirl a few days before 0.51 patch but we are getting extremely annoyed with random character reset.

 

for Example:

 

- We had been playing for 13 hours all geared up and server resets, you know when you get the red writings in the middle of screen with a timer...We all got it at the same time so we come back on the same server and one of us is reset (dead) by the beach naked as a fresh spawn. That was the night before 0.51 came out, so we were on 0.50.

 

- So the day 0.51 came out we decided to give this an other chance and try out the trucks and make a ghillie suite, re-equipped myself and we got to try the VS3. So while we were walking on the beach trying to find nettings, with no zombies around, we both crashed out of the game at the same time. Now we are both on different ISP on different computers which are both pretty strong. My friend logs back in and he's fine, while I log back in the server dead again on the beach with nothing... extremely annoyed.

 

- Like the idiots that we are, we keep playing and the same thing happens to my friend later twice while switching server, it happened to my 3rd friend as well.

 

For how hard it is to equip our self in this game, it would be nice if at least our character weren't reset randomly. I love this game but this is too much for us to take, can anyone enlighten us on this issue? wtf are we doing wrong? It cant be just happening to us is it????  When I look at the top issues of the game, imo this should be right to the top.

If it happens again touch nothing but escape then log out. Then log back in, if you haven't got ya gear back try again.

 

As I understand it some servers have problems connecting to the central hive. When it cant retrieve your data it dumps you on the beach as a freshy. It seems to be a game of waiting for the server to re establish that connection to the hive.

 

Also restarts are a bit dangerous atm because of the server start up. So if its rest give it a good 10 mins before you try to get bk on. Try not to be the first one on aswell as you technically "start" the server by joining. With no players on it I think it lies dorment until someone joinsand kick starts the procedures.

 

If you do get rest then start running round what happens is the server regains connection to the hive and transmits your current char data, that then overwrites the old stuff. That's why its important to get out without doing anything.

Yes when we log on a server as fresh spawn, we log out immediately. It has worked but not everytime :(

 

As far as when I started playing DayZ, I recall building my computer last year at black friday and not so long after I started DayZ. So its been about a year yes.

 

Sorry to hear Scavenger :( it really blows. I cant believe they haven't fixed it.

I can confirm that server restars reset your character. I've been playing with a mate a couple of times after 5.1 on stable, and after every server crash we get reset. We've tried all the steps above (waiting some time, logging into another server, logging back to the same server, not moving and just exit the game) but nothing works. It would be awesome if the devs could get on this pretty fast.

I haven't been losing my whole character, but lately something is gone from my pack every time I log in. Yesterday it was a protector case with a LRS, PU scope, moisin compensator and a rangefinder. It was pretty awesome losing my sniper support kit, let me tell you. The day before that it was a 75 rd drum mag. Why couldn't it be that can of beans or that extra stick? Nope it had to be my most prized loot.

I've lost my character several times this week, it's getting a little frustrating.  My bag got emptied on my geared character, which didn't annoy me that much, but then my characters have been resetting ever since.

 

I took a good 4-5 month break from playing, now I might take another.  I don't feel like running around for 4-5 hours, then losing all progress, and having to restart again.

I agree, I lost end gear too, because I've-joined a reset server too fast, and it's extremely annoying. Well, they should focus to fix

this next patch when they are using a different approach on loot tables.

Dang that sucks :( So I see we aren't alone.

 

I agree its an urgent matter, otherwise there's no point in playing seriously.
