Problem with this merge is that I don't think the game is shit and want my money back.

Same as you, not after argument jus my opinion on some of your points, refreshing to see someone making effort to explain why they feel that way....instead of just yelling "its the same" or "its broken", have some beans.

PS anything I didn't write next to I think you have valid point, like the inv system being very, VERY similar, but there is a new UI on the horizon I hear.....maybe it was another "placeholder" lol  :)

Ok all valid points you made, and no I am honestly not looking to trash this game or the developers. I truly want it to succeed. Obviously time will tell. Thanks for the civil discussion.

The point is to survive, right?

Well, let me digress for a moment...

Been playing this for almost a year now (January). No other game gives me such an adrenaline rush. But over a year there's been no real change pertaining to the point of the game. Today I and my group lost a great deal of loot due to this Patch .51. We were prepairing for long term survival, but no longer.

And really, the devs give us all kinds of guns and clothes, but we lose drinking from wells and magazines for said guns. Every time we get a patch we get something and lose something. Remember M4's? Crash sights? FNX's?  And what's with boots wearing out in a day? But I really don't care much about that. Here's what really counts:

If this game can't have total and true persistence, then I'm not coming in to empty a tent every Tuesday night and hold it for Wednesday morning. And I'm certainly not going to lose all my loot every time there's a patch.  As of this moment, I see no reason to play this game as it was originally designed.

When true persistence comes along, when I can put a tent down and fill it up and have dry bags stashed around the map and it all stays there for a whole year,  I'll come back.

You and your friend don't deserve to help with the development of this alpha game, first of all, not everyone lost their gear yesterday. There was a DDOS attack and every time I'm about to play DayZ I am always on these forums for 20 or so minutes. That's how I found out that there was  a DDOS attack, then I started the most popular topic where everyone was sharing tweets, thoughts, questions, answers and such about the issue. I was going to play DayZ 11 o'clock in the morning, but wasn't able to till 8pm at night. I, along with a lot of others have EVERY.SINGLE.BIT. of my gear because we are contributing to the development of this game. I post suggestions, help people out with their questions, ask questions myself, even though the game isn't what it will soon be in the future I'm fine with that. By the way there is the FIRST scheduled character wipe in 3-6 weeks. They want everyone to 'start fresh' for year 2015 when they add in 0.53 which tinkers with loot and such, and guess what? me, and ALMOST EVERYONE ELSE are perfectly fine with that! because everyone will be reset, everyone will pretty much be at the same level (player/gear wise). This game is alpha, you spent your own 30$ to play this game and before you bought it you read the agreement, "WARNING: THIS GAME IS EARLY ACCESS ALPHA. PLEASE DO NOT PURCHASE IT UNLESS YOU WANT TO ACTIVELY SUPPORT DEVELOPMENT OF THE GAME AND ARE PREPARED TO HANDLE WITH SERIOUS ISSUES AND POSSIBLE INTERRUPTIONS OF GAME FUNCTIONING.". Right now you are deciding to go against this agreement and you are thinking that because this is a game, it should be perfect. But since its in alpha, the regular standards for finished games don't apply, and your problem is that you think they do! Just don't play DayZ till its completely finished then.

Even when this game is finished, I will not get attached to gear.

In a game with perma-death there is always going to be a chance that you will lose gear, forever.

DayZ Standalone is just over a year old and is doing quite well if you consider all factors.

At this time I feel I am not playing DayZ at all because the end result is going to be a drastically different game.

I took a long break between the mod and the SA release, and another long break during this Alpha stage to insure that I do not burn out or get overly frustrated with the state of the game.

Just adding more zombies and new audio is going to make a huge difference for me....
