FishGuts4Lunch 66 Posted November 12, 2014 I just pitched my first tent in Standalone and I must say it is a quite a different look to the camo pup tent I was used to using in the mod. What I mean to say is that this tent sticks out like a sore thumb. It is litterally visable for hundreds of meters distance. This doesn't give me much peace of mind as to the safety of the tent itself or anything being strored inside it. I think it would be very cool to be able to use spray paint and disguise the tent a little, much in the way the camo is added to the mosin with black and green spray paint. The paint is already in the game so there would no need to add new items to the loot spawn. The difficulty level could be increased by making it nessesary to use several cans of each color seeing as the tent represents a much larger surface area. Perhaps the paint could even be made to wear off requiring a new application or even fall off of the tent every time it is packed up. All in all this would increase the security of the tent slightly making their use more attractive. This would also stimulate a lifestyle other than roving and looting while adding another crafting skill to the game. Fish
tally2425 2 Posted November 12, 2014 Couldn't agree more! I'm scared to use tents because they're so visible
DemonGroover 8836 Posted November 12, 2014 Yep - hopefully there are ways to camo the tent, whether it is paint or camo netting, who knows?

It should be a great risk that someone can find your tent. This force you to find a good spot where you minimize the possibility for someone to find it. I had my tent up from last Wednesday till yesterday on a very popular 50 player server and no one found it. Even it was placed between Cherno and NEAF. I spent one hour to find the perfect spot and it was only visiblefrom one side in a distance for about 10-15 meters. The vegetation was my camo and thats how it should be. You must have been very lucky to find it. With smaller tents in camo color you could most likely get away with putting it up under a random three just outside a city, and that's not so fun. entspeak 374 Posted November 12, 2014 (edited) I hope they do stashes like they have in the mod. Smaller space, but easier to hide because it's a hole in the ground. In the mod, I'd have people raid my tent, but never find my nearby stash. Edited November 12, 2014 by entspeak
AP_Norris 1018 Posted November 13, 2014 I want to steal that camp netting from the NWAF northern camp.Maybe we can one day, spend a few minutes trying to take a military tent down when we have the right tools, and can manage to hold off a good few zombies quietly or a couple hundred not so quietly. Would mind big whitetop civilian tents either.
FishGuts4Lunch 66 Posted November 14, 2014 I thing much of the reason tent don't get raided as much as you might think is the fact that they are so buggy at the moment. If I go to my tent for the first time after a server reset the contents are often completely invisable. I keep a specific slot empty and if I place something there to contents suddenly appear again. So, a tent raider might look inside, see nothing but be unable to steal the tent either. Trying to place an item inside will not work either unless you know where the free slot is at. I spent one hour to find the perfect spot and it was only visiblefrom one side in a distance for about 10-15 meters. The vegetation was my camo and thats how it should be. You must have been very lucky to find it Without a doubt finding the right spot is the key to having a tent and keeping the items inside safe. I have a feeling that most people will be setting them on the northern edge of the map. There are lots of bolders and crannies where a tent may be hard to find. The down side is that will make it a nasty long trudge to put things inside it or reach it as a new spawn to get yourself kitted out again quickly.I think it is a better choice to take a slightly greater risk and keep it more central. I have been keeping notes of suitable places since my days on the mod. My own tent is also in a sparsly traveled region and pretty well hidden. To be honest I have trouble finding it myself Myself, I am keeping my tent as a backup with all the luxuries I need to set up my charactor with full kit so he can start again without visiting all the dangerious spots as a bambi... A gun, axe, ammo, jacket, pants, vest, backpack, bandages and food.
