Vests and ballistic protection

Recommended Posts

So I'm curious if the vests provide ballistic protection or not.

Watched Wobo's video which says chest pieces provide protection but not much.

Press vests provide protection, that's a tick.

Anti-stab vest doesn't provide protection against ballistic.

What about the Smersh, High cap and Assault vests?

So does anyone know if these provide protection against ballistic or not?

Yes they do, all vest provide the same protection with the exception of the anti stab vest which provides slightly less.

Well in real live YES a "bullet resistance" vest (because lets be honest something like 100% bulletproof does not exist)

does not protect you from stabbing.

I don´t know how they made it ingame...

But my (personal) impression is that in this game body armor does absorbe some of the bullet damage.

From experience, and from Wobo's rigorous testing videos, clothing offers more protection with the fewer items contained within those clothing pieces.

Yea those were the videos I was referring to, my only thought is that the videos were published during v0.43.116251 so it might not be completely accurate unless updated/revised.  Where as the wiki was updated on v0.49.124971.

Had my press vest ruined today by a zombie hitting me from outside a building. Two hits and it was toast.

After I went and watched all those video's. I shouldn't have gotten rid of my hi cap vest for it. I really don't think a zombie or human could destroy a kevlar vest with their bare hands. Vest should be basically indestructible unless shot or stabbed. Blunt force should do nothing to them. Same with ballistic helmets.

Yeah, I already watched these, but I'm looking more for player experience.

Also we have no clue if the smersh vest provides or not, since that video was captured before the smersh vest update.

I think they should definitely add vests with protective plates in them as they are fairly common and standard issue for the military.... Something along the lines of a press vest capacity but offer ballistic protection.

You can even go as far as making police barracks spawn kevlar (small calibre protection, i.e. 9mm, .45, .22, .380 auto etc..) and military barracks spawn Tactical vests with Type 4 armor plating in them (can protect against rifles as well as pistol).

Step 1. Open stat files

Step 2. Look for clothing stat called ballistic, this is the value for ballistic protection

Step 3. Compare

And yes, the press vest has the highest value followed by the ballistic helmet.
