Pan_Andrzej 109 Posted November 10, 2014 IMO DAYZ=coast spawns I like to add stories behind things, and in DAYZ I like to think that when you spawn on a beach you are some kind of surivivor who survive some sea crash and was swimming all the way to the nearest coast, maybe in the future in hardcore mode It would be nice to spawn and already be soaked and cold. Evil Minion 943 Posted November 10, 2014 Spawning at the coast drags most people to the major towns/military camps aroud the coast for loot or towards the major inland military camps and then back again to the coast to kill people.Thats because of several other factors mainly the gearing up and PvE parts being too easy and many of the long time features (like vehicles, base building etc.) not implemented. Currently half of the people don't leave the coast because you can still find tons of loot there and the other half returns because its so easy to reach and loot the inland spawns after which there is nothing left to do. Then there is a significant number of server hoppers speeding up the process even more and then returning at the coast for "action". In the end you will often find weapons being "imported" to the coast giving players even less reason to go inland. Now the inland areas are actually better places for tends, bases, farms etc. as you have a lower chance of people getting there - but persistence in in baby-stage right now. So basically with game development the focus should shift inlands not despite but because the spawn areas are at the coast. Key is to expand on early-mid game by making it harder to survive at the coast (loot economy, more survival), harder to reach places far inland (slower average speed, more survival) and reducing the chances of instantly finding what you are looting for (loot economy) as well as preventing abuse of mechanics to speed up/skip the process (server hopping, suicide spam). Finally by adding more "endgame" content people are given alternatives to returning to the coast and shooting people once they are "fully geared". Especially if the content is somewhat difficult and time consuming - base building, vehicles, horticulture if growth is slowed down drastically, finding dynamic locations, logistics etc. In fact its not even about coastal spawns but about designated spawn areas far from high value areas with some transition areas in between (that are basically not used yet other than for supplies and sightseeing). If all the good stuff spawns in Berezino the spawns are better off in the far west and so on. However, the coast serves as a nice and big enough landmark to identify spawn areas and thats why I don't like the inland spawns. They just don't give the same feedback to other players. In short: There should be a designed spawn area that can be identified by a particular landmark - and the coast is just perfect for this.

Without any memory of what happened, who and where I am. Struggling to survive the upcoming trial. I can see a person in the far. I call up to the person. He turns to me, growls and starts to run in my direction. "Why does he do that?" The person gets nearer. He charges at me. I am bleeding. "What's happening?" Scared I am running into the forest. I hide behind a tree. Shivering I try a aid my wound. I am hungry. I am cold. There is that thing. I need to loose it.< OR >I open my eyes and look around. "Oh yeah, a military base!" Let's grab some guns and some ammo. "Shit, the backpack is full!" There are some beans, but who cares. Down to Berezino and kick some asses.< Second one could win an Oscar in today's society. In land spawns take too much from the already scarce story. Edited November 10, 2014 by umberfive

In fact its not even about coastal spawns but about designated spawn areas far from high value areas with some transition areas in between (that are basically not used yet other than for supplies and sightseeing). The problem is that people are getting to used to the coastal landmarks and at least for me, it is slowing eating away some of the fun when it comes to surviving and exploration.More spawn locations inland would also mean a shorter distance to some of the inland landmarks and the ones that will come in the future. A more diversity would mean that playerswould get a wider knowledge of the map and scatter more around, making it a higher chance of actually meeting people inland. CJFlint 357 Posted November 10, 2014 (edited) Very interesting. So from the sounds of it they switched the spawn points back to to the coast again, for stable? Is that the case? Is it anywhere on the coast or does it just gravitate toward the south or east? Last patch there was few spawns inland I remember. I prefer spawn points be spread out all over the map, or it could be anywhere random on the south or east coast. What I don't like is when everyone spawns in an kind of the same area. For example a few patches ago everyone would spawn in up at NE, and thats really were everyone would stay, never venturing to the other parts of the map. There were times even on hi pops were NW areas were empty of players. Most players I would talk would say they have everything they need on the NE and there was no point in getting the mil gear on the NW, or SW. It was great for looting mil gear though lol I never worried about other players as much, but in the big picture I don't think was good for the game. I could really pick and chose whether I felt like pvping or running around finding stuff... What I found out for my self is there are many players that never venture that far from were they spawned. I go everywhere on the map. Just on my current life I spent much of my time hanging around the southern half of the map last patch, there were pvp groups and I was close to good mil spawns and loot. But then moved to novo area and I am now slowly making my way back down again. The one thing I liked about last patch is I would run into people just about every where, thats cool. It keeps me on my toes. I had more close surprise close encounters then I have had in a while. I really hope it stays that way. I really like it much better were people don't just gravitate in one area on the map. What ends up happening is areas either are just dead with no players and then just a small area becomes a complete death trap. Its not all bad though, like I said looting for the high end stuff becomes easier, but the game it self becomes much more predictable. So its kind of a double edged sword, and there is a part of me that likes a shake up every once an a while to keep things fresh. If i die in Cherno or Elektro, i spawn towards east and if i die in Berezino or Svetlorjark, i spawn towards south. In last weekend though, all i did was spawning between Solnichniy and Elektro. Tired of spawning on the coast? I have the best solution for you. STOP DYING SO MUCH Well, it's quite hard to not die when you are roleplaying a friendly character who tries to communicate before shooting;)I try to help people out, but most of the times, i get a bullet between my eyes. I'm not complaining though, i love gearingup again and finding that one person who actually gives me a thumbs up;) Edited November 10, 2014 by StayAlive

There were a couple inland back in the .49 stable. Then there was thee ole broken Vybor spawn...never got that one but I new others who did. So your a freindly player, well thats why you have to respawn allot. Most the players in this game are just mean dicks to each other. They really are just a bunch of jerks. <_< Probably the worst I have seen in any multiplayer game honestly. Its built right into the mechanics of this game. There are some freindlys that play and "hero" playstyles. I think if you enjoy that play style your better off at least in a group, in the SA anyways. Its just too easy to get shot, and there sooo many KOSers out there. Beck Privateers is a pretty large clan, that is pretty serous about playing the hero play style and pull it off. I used to be in it, but that play style wasn't quite my cup of tea. But I have allot of respect for them, there like the UN of dayz. There a pretty good bunch of guys and gals, really cool helpful players. You should check them out if you havn't already, if you really enjoy that group. I was just thinking about making an application to Beck's Privateers. I like their code of conduct and from what most people say, they seems like a pretty decent group. I do agree, it is quite hard roleplaying as a friendly character, especially while lone wolfing:) Edited November 10, 2014 by StayAlive

I do agree, it is quite hard roleplaying as a friendly character, especially while lone wolfing:)Well heres the thing, playing the "hero" play style is probably one of the hardest things to pull off in this game. I mean to make contact, before firing, is at times just sucicide alone. Doing it solo, I think with the current mechanics, is just not worth it unless you just don't mind being shot all the time. I mean that with respect too, its just the truth. So what they have is numbers, when they do an "operation" as they call it. I seen up to 10 or sometimes even 15 players from clan on one server. Let me tell you something, you may think the bandits and ass hats are scared, there not, they will try to derail it every time LOL which makes for some crazy pvp. Probably some of the biggest shoot outs I was ever in this game was in that clan. Good stuff if you like action too. They get into some pretty nasty scraps with that clan. They also have a ton of members which makes gearing up fairly easy, someone is always looting and you can join them. They have a pretty strick rules of engagements though, which draws the enemy in along with people your trying to help. So its really pretty risky, but they do it about is good as anyone can with the game the way it is now and they do help players thats for sure. To me it sounds like you would like it.
