Current persistence in 0.50 patch

Recommended Posts

So in 49 patch I had loot stash in some persistent server, which lasted for several months until it got completely wiped in 50 patch. So my question is, does persistent still work in this current patch and is it possible to leave stuff in a backpack and drop that backpack somewhere and the stuff inside won't disappear after server restart, or it does not work? Somebody tested it already maybe?

I am trying to make another stash with backpacks and guns on a persistent server so not sure if I should continue doing it, haven't seen a restart yet on that server.

Sorry buddy, but I really don't think any persistance is stable enough to be expected to transfer or work.

It's definitely awesome they are working on this but you can't really trust it to work yet.

In 49 patch it worked (somewhat) that's why I am asking about 50 patch. You probably don't understand my question.

He understands your question perfectly, you just don't understand his answer.  What he meant to say was, " I've had a bad experience or heard of bad experiences with persistence not working in .49 so until it works for sure for everyone, not just you, you shouldn't trust it."

To answer your very obvious question.  The patch has been out for like 8 restarts.  I think you should probably test it and then get back to all of us about it yeah?

If it worked in .49, there are no advertised changes so it should be the same in .50.  From what I've gathered the bugs around persistence are server based.  So if you find one that works, then, uhh.... it works dude.

I myself have never tried it; however I'm working with someone to test it out this coming week on some servers.  So I'll get back to you next week with more information and hopefully you will understand my answer.

If i would have just said, "you probably don't understand his answer" and left it at that then it would be nicer.  Implying that I might be insulting someone is much much less of a dick move than actually insulting someone.  I always say what I have to say (or write in this case) with my chest as the saying goes.  Reading it back it is way more "dick-ish" than I intended but I'm glad you opened this up because I also think that if you let what someone on the internet you don't even know says affect you personally then that a you issue, not a me issue man.  I'll try to keep it less condescending, even if it's in response to some.

His reply was what the usual dayz player who never played on persistent servers and never kept a stash here would say. That is why I said he didn't understand my question.

In 49 patch servers with persistence enabled were persistent (somewhat) and my loot did not disappear for weeks even after restarts. Now it seems that servers get a major reset once in a while because persistence still crash them after several restarts. At least that's what I have read so far. I could not test it myself, because the server I put my stuff on usually restarts once in 24 hours.

Me too, my tents all disappeared after 0.50 patch, I am asking Fragnet if they reset the data, if they didn't, that means BI made persistence broken again.

Man, that sure was a dick response.

May have been.. but he was concise and explained things thoroughly in my opinion. Sometimes being a dick sucks, but its necessary to cut through all the BS we have in this world..

Not to imply that anyone in here was needing him to be curt, just that sometimes even though its brash.. its not that bad to deal with if they are still being constructive.

And to answer your question OP.. it works on the exp build and they are one and the same currently.. I had a stash all week that stayed up fine. But many servers that I set stuff down in, crashed so no way to retrieve it.. which goes back to what was pointed out rather harshly perhaps: you cant trust it, but if it works.. and you find that it does for you on a certain server.. great. Come let us know, once you get there. Im sure you'll find it works out fine.. but again, you cant trust that the server will stay live or not reset in some way causing you to lose your stash.

i have admin on a server.

The persistance addin is NOT installed, yet it seems to be now persistent.

Are all server persistant now?

Been on for an hour now and not seen a zombie. Are they persistently dead too?

Hello,

I know persistence has been a topic frequently brought up on the forums. However it's typically a very basic question. I have a few questions regarding persistence that some of you may be able to help me with.

1.) Since the release of .5 it seems that new gear isn't showing up for me, in other words I can jump servers and have the exact same gear in the exact same areas. Is this due to persistence? Even after server restarts it seems the exact same gear is still there. For example, I could have a house with a potato, can of peaches and a hardhat spawn in the house. Now if I log-out, jump servers (new server) it will still be there. This is causing some issues for me as I haven't been finding new things like I use to, and also seems food/drinks is becoming more scarce on my frequented servers.

2.) If you disable persistence on your server, will the people who join have their character data reset or lose items? I am assuming it keeps your gear but refreshes loot spawns?

3.) Do I have the understanding of "persistence" wrong here? If so, please give a better definition.

Thank you in advance,
Jesse

Persistance data structure has changed. You can't really expect that your tent is persistant on a ( pretty major ) update while persistance is still a big WIP.
