Spent hours looting and surviving, end up dead when logging in?

So I logged off on a 'safe' spot, crouched down for 10 seconds on top of the NWAF firestation, then left the server.
Came back, said my legs were in extreme pain and my character was dead.
Nobody killed me, nothing happened, must have been a bug?

Now I do, however, understand that this is the alpha version, stuff like that is supposed to happen here, but damn son, it gotta get fixed.
I haven't seen any threads like this immediatly, except for the one where it says your character got deleted

 

->in response to that one, doesn't that happen when you combat log and get killed while your character is standing there like a dummie while it disconnects?
From what I know thats what happened if it said your character has been reset.


Anyway, love the game, too bad I had to spend hourssssssss finding gear and end up losing it in seconds to un-legit reasons, hope it'll be different once the real version is released

Wouldn't that be awesome? If they could give us a simple old mountain bike until the real version is released. It would surely increase my will to play daily instead of when I feel like spending hours of running for an AKM.

I know right, felt like my whole world collapsed for a few seconds.

Until I realised its only DayZ and its my own fault for getting attached to it since its in the Alpha version.

They should, however, fix this though.

Don't log out in or near buildings, or Death will come looking

1. the nwaf fire station is one of the least safe places on the map.

2. logging off on an upper storey often means you log in and fall through the floor(s) to the ground.

 

In future log off in a less stupid place, like the woods or far away from a mil base.

Plus logging off from that location typically indicates you're a server hopper. Its possible you had a bad string of luck like me though where I finally made it to the NWAF after a week of running there from the East coast and being distracted by towns and what not, only to get a server dc message in that very building on the 2nd floor. Logged back in on another server because the first one wouldn't show up again, and I was on the ground inside the first floor (where you cant get to normally). I had to actually look for a ladder, see the arrow, then click the 'action' button and it brought me outside where I was able to run away..fast... I was nervous about being sniped so I don't go near airfields much, and the one I do finally make it to I glitch. go figure.

 

I always find a wooded area just outside where Im at to log..you never know whos' going to be at your location when you log in lol
