dgeesio 1034 Posted October 12, 2014 most houses would have atleast one bag yet on SA bags are pretty rare compared to other loot. for eg i found numerous food items in minutes yet no bags . the thing is food and water drink would be all gone not bags. bags should be more easily available. By bags, do you mean backpacks? If so, think about it this way: aside from cosmetic purposes what use is having children's briefcases and craftable backpacks in the game if the talon backpack (or even hunting) is super common? In my mind, the best thing from a loot value perspective is to have many burlap sacks in the game, quite a few children's briefcases and larger backpacks be increasingly rare. In this way a 12 - 20 slot bag would be the standard whereas anything larger becomes something more likely to be treasured and valued.
Mos1ey 6301 Posted October 12, 2014 I only have one backpack and I'd be damn sure to take it with me when I left for wherever I was planning on holding up for the zombie apocalypse. Also, you have to remember that it's very likely that you would not be the first person to go looting in DayZ, hence supermarket shelves not being fully stocked etc. The majority of the good stuff will already be gone before the game takes place. shinjuru 114 Posted October 12, 2014 I believe they're trying to get fresh spawns looking for ways to craft their initial bags. Rope + Burlap Sack = Improvised Courier BagRope + Burlap Sack + Wooden Stick = Improvised Backpack
BadAsh (DayZ) 1513 Posted October 12, 2014 Burlap sacks and rope seems to be rather frequent loot spawns in 0.50 at least. All you need then are some sticks.
sachad 1016 Posted October 12, 2014 I wouldn't mind having backpacks become rarer than they are now. Perhaps there could be some more low-tier packs added, like fanny packs, purses, laptop bags, etc. They'd have limited inventory space but they'd be more abundant too. qwer4790 26 Posted October 12, 2014 I don't think so. Bags, hats and boots are the last things I want to see because they just everywhere!!
theevancat 94 Posted October 12, 2014 I've got a few, like, old school bags that are like the Taloon. I'd take them with me, of course, but there's going to be at least one left. It should be common to find at least smaller bags in households. Mountain bags people usually only have one of because it's for their sport, and they'd surely take that. But most people have a couple schoolbags kicking around depending on their age and if they have kids.
Survivor_Ted 269 Posted October 12, 2014 They're not rare, it's just how lucky you are. Saw a thread the other day where the OP asked about rare things and whatnot, some items are more rare to some than others. And as everyone else says, burlap sacks and rope is not that uncommon either so you can easily craft one of those. They actually lowered the spawn of backpacks like way back so I highly doubt they'll increase it again.

surf_polar 110 Posted October 13, 2014 I'd like to see more things like this:http://www.hamburg.de/contentblob/4141706/data/plastiktuete-plastiktueten.jpghttp://www.duh.de/uploads/pics/Viele_Tueten-DUH.JPGPlastic bags. Lower space to put items in than a backpack and you could randomly lose items if they are badly damaged, but they should be a lot more common in the loot spawn. You could also reinforce your clothing with them like in The Road. :)
dgeesio 1034 Posted October 13, 2014 logical explanation I like itthing is it isnt very logical. lets explain.....go in a big town city like electro or churno or svet or berizino. there can be hundreds of houses. now go check everyone . you lucky to find one bag unless server just started or noone is on. yet youll find plenty of food water pop other items. in most houses people who have some kind of bag. so say 100 houses 100 bags. we are lucky to get 1 or 2 at most from them. so i think a few more should spawn. im not saying turn the game into BagZ but just up the spawn rate on bags or remove a couple of the useless items that spawn to spawn a few more bags. doomdude1 48 Posted October 13, 2014 I agree actually, bags are more common IRL. Counting all of my duffle bags, backpacks and courier-ish bags, I probably have around a dozen. So if this world goes to sh*t, come over to my place. However, you constantly have to keep in mind the balancing issues. If you went for parity with real life, you'd probably find a LOT more Taloon backpacks and above. That creates an issue of other backpacks being pointless and everyone just looting everything, due to the inventory space.
skypig 139 Posted October 13, 2014 finding a bag, even a kids bag, is one of my worries when I spawn. up to that point I have to actually make an effort to survive.. pick what I 'need' to have and can carry in 4 pant pockets and 3-4 pockets in the nearly ruined coats I manage to find. to me bags make the game much easier and that takes some of the fun out of it.I pass over mountain packs because there's so much room that the game stops being dayz and ends up being Hoarders on Foot. chompster 171 Posted October 13, 2014 In my opinion this is one of those cases where gameplay > reality. Backpacks should be a luxury item and not something you can find pretty much anywhere. They should be an upgrade from handcrafted items and not just another option. So i think they're fine as they are if not still too common.
flimsypremise 94 Posted October 13, 2014 I'd like to see plastic bags that you could carry in your hands, but that you needed to drop every time you wanted to hold something else.
