tally2425 2 Posted October 8, 2014 Am i right in thinking that there is more loot on higher populated servers? for example if i join a server that has 5 people in will the loot be the same in a server with 35 people in?
BeaverProductions 441 Posted October 8, 2014 (edited) Not really. There are 2 types of server just now. Ones with persistence enabled and ones with it disabled. The ones with persistence enabled seem to have a problem with items respawning. If I go onto one of these servers you can travel from town to town and only find things like chemlights, hats, hammers (i.e. useless things). This happens even after the server restarts. Servers with persistence disabled will respawn fresh loot all over the map at each server restart. If you join a server with lots of people on it you are more likely to not find much, especially on the coast, as people will die and loot everything on the coast. If you join a server with just a few people on it you will have a greater chance of finding stuff. Edited October 8, 2014 by Beav
comikz 218 Posted October 8, 2014 There certainly is more loot on Higher populated servers, it just has legs that's all... /end sarcasm? But no not really, but places where spawns are frequent will have less loot because of the amount of people passing through.
Cptn_Miller 83 Posted October 8, 2014 This normally brings up the touchy subject of --- server hopping --- , find a good location that spawns gear and raid it, log out, look for servers that just restarted, log in at that same good site and raid again, rinse / repeat till jacked. Have to be on your toes at all times cause people usally camp these sites and iv had several battles hopping. Imo the fun of this play style is to gear up, run to the coastal battlezones, log out, log into high population server and begin the adrenaline rush... sometimes help a fresh spawn... sometimes shoot a lot of people... sometimes get shot very fast... never know whats going to happen and im sure iv made someone's day when they loot my corpse (as long as its not all ruined).
dirrly 70 Posted October 8, 2014 Talking about loot... have a question since the last patch. Military trucks and jeeps don't spawn any loot. Is this a bug or intended?
Cptn_Miller 83 Posted October 8, 2014 Talking about loot... have a question since the last patch. Military trucks and jeeps don't spawn any loot. Is this a bug or intended?a lot of loot spawn locations were changed, bug or intended - who knows.. i posted this in another similar thread: When loot constantly respawns on the same server w/o a restart, ill stop hopping... The zombies are no factor, the chance of starving - no factor, the chance of dehydrating - no factor, the chance of freezing - no factor, the chance of getting murdered - MAJOR FACTOR... so how to lower your chances of getting murdered ? gear up so its an even fight or go hide in the woods in middle of nowhere and become a hermit ... i go with option A - murder the murderers, imo there is nothing funner in this game atm than gearing up, hitting a high pop server and go in guns blazing... its a rush you dont get from many if any other game out there...
.Ender. 42 Posted October 8, 2014 I was curious what was going on. I got glitched (thrown off a staircase and died with a lot of gear and a 2 week old character). When I respawned, I literally died 3 times before I found anything. No loot meant starvation twice and hypothermia once. My 4th character is now still alive, but theres still almost NO loot. I ran through a restarted server in Cherno and found maybe 2 items in about 30 minutes of apartment searching. I literally just die and restart now because I get bored of not finding anything and seeing 'im starving, im cold, waaa waa waa' when I literally cant do a single thing about it, without server hopping constantly. lrp1984 199 Posted October 9, 2014 I guess this could be an issue for US servers. I've found little problem gearing up on European servers. As someone else stated I normally gear up on a low population server and then move over to a high population server to track down players. However I do sometimes gear up on a high population server for the thrill. I've not died to anything other than the character wipe bug for over a month now, and when you die to a bug, I don't see any issue with exploiting the servers to re-gear up. The main issue for me that makes me server hop is that I pretty much always play with someone else, so if we die, it's easier to meet back up on a low population server and get ourselves fed and watered. If they add a feature that you can group yourself with other players so if you die within an hour of each other you'll both spawn at the same spot, that'd make things a lot easier. It's funny when I started playing I'd be lost all the time, using a compass and the dayz sa map to navigate. Now within a minute of spawning I know where I am and what direction to head in.
