PvP a solution that everyone can be happy about!

i say no , if you don't want to deal with players then this mod isn't for you.

the only viable alternative i can see is perhaps have servers where player damage is off BUT it is not linked to the database and items gained on that server stay on that server.

So how does it work with stealing from tents. So if u have PvP off u can steal from dents without any Risk??? And if sombody steals from u cant prevent him from doing it ??? And scouting with PvP off ???

I dont think this will work.

Yeah all that "Shoot on sight" is kinda crap. But all that solutions that try to give more reasons to players to be friendly to each other probably wont really turn the tide (Except one...i think). Cause for all those dicks in the end it's "So that guy could kill me maybe and and all

I need to do I can do by myself, hmm lets be sure and kill him first".

Thats kinda crap cause in the real Zombie World u would possibly be grateful for another survivor cause it's saver and social contact is a thing that some people like (Especially if it's the first soul u saw since months).

And that would be a far more real behavior than shoot on sight. But obviously most people dont play that role in the game.

Sure snatching people and leaving them without weapons and whatever u needed in the wild thats also cool.

But shoot on sight...

that's crap.

There are also suggestions to make a skill system so that u need buddies to do certain things and so on.

But in the end shooting a weapon and having a can opener will be enough to survive.

Now one way to encourage more teamplay that would really turn the tide towards more teamplay. ( I think)

Just make the zombies a lot more dangerous so that u ABSOLUTLY need more players to survive and that u need a lot more players to get really cool stuff.

Otherwise make different servers, that would work in any case.

PvP is the only thing that makes this game somewhat challenging, the Zeds are stupid easy and supplies are EVERYWHERE.

The way i see things at the min, the arse wipe bandits are having the run of things. They (bandits) are shooting people who after years of cooperative team play and strict trigger discipline don't shoot friends on sight or shoot innocent people in the back.

Ok, so we either all turn into cock-suck bum-bandits and ruin the game or we find a way to give both sets of player what they want.

Group one; Bandits PvP

Group two; Survivors PvE

If we are to keep on the way we are, it will surly be detriment to the game as people will just say "fuck this shit" after we get killed yet again by a group of shit head bandits who camp out loot spots and most probably duplicate their kit...Yes, they cheat!

We can have servers where everyone who joins, joins in with the intent to kill each-other on sight, then the bandits can really brag about kills and how elite they are.We can call them beaner servers, after all they love beans so much they will kill for them.

We can also have servers where people work together and just fight the zombies, to make this work better just make the zombies allot tougher (head shot only) and numerous, it will be a requirement to group up to survive and raid towns and villages, if you don't you will die unless you're a skilled player or very lucky.

This is not Arma. It is a mod for Arma. If everyone had years of trigger discipline, then they have also had years of playing and adapting to other mods, and if you can learn how to adapt and survive in Arma, you can learn how to adapt and survive in DayZ.

Or you could have a server where players have to work together to fight off zombies and bandits. A server where you can choose to play alone and be successful, or roll with a group and achieve the same success. Oh my goodness I forgot we have that already!

The game hasn't changed, and sales continue to go up, so stop with the it will be detrimental to the game stuff. Saying bandits duplicate their stuff is something you cannot prove and holds no merit in this discussion, you are just using it in a fruitless attempt at trying to make people that PvP look bad.

PvP is a core gameplay mechanic in DayZ. If you remove it, this game will be no different from the COUNTLESS other shoot-em-up zombie games out there. Adapt and overcome or pick a different game.

I can't believe anyone would even think about turning friendly fire off on this game. Once you learn to fight the zombies, the only thing left that makes the game interesting is the threat of other survivors/bandits. There's a reason the mod was made to be exclusively multiplayer... and it wasn't just for the camaraderie.

If it's not made for PvE, then why are there Zombies? Clearly the original intent WAS PvE with the possibility of dying by PvP.

It's flipped though because of all of the "bored" mouth breathers that have turned it into a virtual gang simulator.

I just don't undertand why all these PvP'ers just don't start playing vanilla ARMA where there are no Zombies and the intent (unless co-op) is to kill other players.

So where is the problem with that. I mean if there are 2 groups who work togehter and try kill each other its cool. But if u shoot freshly

spawned survivers cause u scared they could kill your hole group that's

Yeah we have that except u don't need to work togehter to fight zombies.

And that leads to the only problem.

Most people are shooting on sight cause they dont really need friends.

Which is absolutly rational cause u can survive by yourselve and u could

be betrayed.

So as longs as Survival against Zombies is so easy, the teamwo rk

part is like not existing. Except between u and ur friends. But rarely

with guys u meet on servers.

And why should a group only have the same sucsess as a single player.

I think single playing should be a lot more difficult and there should be things which cant be done as a single player.

Man!! why is everyone so extrem about this.

Either they want to eliminate PvP and destroy that part completly

or they wont keep it like it is now, where u can't make any teamwork with strangers. I have no doubt that there will be PvE Servers sooner

or later when I see the discussions (Even if rocket says no, people will play the the game on there own server like they want to) and I have no doubt that

there will still be Bandit/shoot everyone servers.

But I doubt that there will be servers with Coop and PvP

in a Balanced way.

The easiest solution everyone can truly be happy about:

Team up with your friends and stop bitching. Unless you have no friends. But if you have no friends, I think it's a universal law of the world that you're screwed. Removing PvP won't spontaneously make you friends. That's off-topic, but still important to know.

On a more serious note, get over it. If you want a cushy little PvP flag option, DayZ isn't the game for it. Stick to L4D if you want forced teamwork.

ok so its obvious to everybody that pvp is rampant and annoying to most. but what if there was a solution? a way to let the bandits kill each other.. and the survivors team up?

The Solution:

Enable a "switch" to allow player damage AND to allow you to deal player damage on the player

Example: i spawn into Dayz' date=' and im feeling like i want a bigger challenge, or i wanna go killing. so i turn on PvP damage. if i just want to survive and not have to worry about people shooting me, leave it off, and let me survive with the zombies as the only threat

How it would work: turning on/off PvP would take time (like 10 seconds) and you CANNOT change it until you've leaved it alone for an hour. also people could still steal from your tents even with pvp off

Pro's: people will always be able to be hurt/killed by zombies.. but will have a choice if you want to fight players.

Will allow players to actually have a choice in the game and allow more risk v reward.

GREATLY reduced bandit to survivor ratio

allow people to group together and not have to worry about being back stabbed

allow new spawns to roam without having to worry about being killed

Cons: none that i can think of

Notes: would be fairly easy to code in and would be easy to adapt to

TL;DR

allow people to turn on the ability to deal and be delt player damage with a cool down timer

Also, if one more of you carebears say the game has become unplayable for most i'm gonna fucking rip of your head and shit down your neck. It's unplayable for you and the other whiners, dont pretend like most people want this game to be more boring cuzz thats a lie. I play this game everyday and i have no problem getting shot all the time, maybe cuzz i don't run around cherno or open fields like a jackass and then hurry my suprised ass to the forum as soon as i get obviously shot.

I'm sorry....i'm just really realy tired of all these lame people who are obviously just plain bad at grasping the context of surviving. You people jus t don't know what to do with the freedom this game gives you, it confuses you and you die, hoping the structure of the game will protect you. It will not. Please stop trying to change this game PVP-wise. The problem is you, not the game.

If friendly fire is a toggle on/off, then every will just turn pvp off, farm stary/NW airfield then run to Cherno/Elektro and turn it back on...

You can't have different game rules for different servers. It just unbalances the whole game. Without bandits the game would be too easy. With them it's quite frustrating. But everyone has to play by the same rules, otherwise you would need a different account for every type of server to keep settings from being exploited.

PvP is fine, its meant to be brutal and cut throat, adding in a switch where people can just ignore other players would be the worst possible thing dayz could implement. Zombies are hardly a challenge for a competent player, other players are the true danger. taking away the danger the other players present would make this game stale as hell, way more predictable and just ridiculously easy to gear up and roam around with top tier gear forever without any true threat to your mortality. The game is a PVP game people just need to get it through their heads and deal with it.
