How are we supposed to play the game right now?

Recommended Posts

I'm not stupid I know it's still being made...but what makes them buff the zombies and stuff when they don't need to?

Like why does setting up the navmesh mean zombies have to be changed, at all, besides where they run.

They're far more relentless than they used to be last month they didn't see you from like 300+m away now they do all the time and they don't stop chasing you until even the best computer can't render them any more...

The issue isn't that it's broken, it's that they broke it more when the zombies were fairly survivable and...well, why? Who decided "let's make zombies even more annoying when things like melee aren't working all that well so fresh spawns have a bitch of a time!"

Can you explain how you get anywhere decent when you starve after like 20 minutes after spawning and might be lucky if an apple tree gives you an apple? There's not enough time to get anywhere with half decent loot in at least half the spawn points I've been to recently. Unless you get super lucky and nobody happened to loot places but that's just chance or if you're on a deserted server, which is dull.

ZOMBIE survival game. as in survive the ZOMBIES. and russia. and the other players.

the harder the game gets, the less KoS spec ops players i find shooting at me and im ok with that

I have noticed it being harder after this update especially for a fresh spawn. It is hard to fight off a bunch of zombies with no weapons. I have had quite a few fresh spawns die within 5-10 mins.

I have a question on how to deal with multiple zombies as a fresh spawn  Here is the situation I have had happen a few times.

Start out fresh spawn head toward a town a zombie comes from seemingly out of nowhere. I start punching him (except now it is a lot harder I used to be able to punch out a zombie without taking any damage now it takes 5+ hits for 1 hit to actually do damage) I am fighting one and then a 2nd zombie reaches me then a 3rd usually at least 1 is a crawler. So now I'm just getting my ass kicked and bleeding I have to run away. The zombies give chase and attract more zombies. I had 5 of them attacking me at once one time. I end up dead.

I have had this situation have quite a few times since the latest update. How do any other people deal with this.

Also I am having a lot harder time actually hitting zombies with a weapon. I have hits that I know should connect but dont. I kinda think that maybe I am de-syncing or lagging some times. Because I will take multiple swings at a zombie none of the hits register. But I will take hits from zombies that are facing the wrong direction. I think that I am safe from being hit because I dodged a hit the zombie moves past me and is now facing away from me it attacks the air and I get hit.

Anyone have any advice on how to deal with this?

run into a building, run out, close second door behind you, loop around to other side. close first door. zombies are trapped at least long enough to lose you

Nothing like that works in my experience they still just run through doors anyway maybe I'm spawning in all the wrong areas.

Even if that worked it's fucking annoying having to do that every 2 seconds the only safe places are like fields and forests and with that there's no way to survive in them unless there's some secret way to take down animals and make fires without any items I haven't heard of yet.

it generally works for me... i honestly think the only "difficult" part of the game (for me at least) is getting a primary firearm, which isnt needed with the abundance of secondary firearms and ammo all over the place.

I've never played a game where so many people place the blame of their own inability upon the game itself. If other people are able to play the game and enjoy it, despite the difficulty, perhaps you should practice more or do some research online to figure out why they are succeeding where you are failing.

It's like struggling to learn algebra and blaming the teacher or the book when the rest of the class is doing just fine. With an attitude like that, you're never going to learn to enjoy a game like dayz. If you want a game that is easily accessible for everyone that picks it up, I suggest you stick to AAA titles.

And this rant is addressed at..? I understand that some people find the idea of working as testers or feeling like they are being a part of development process is fun, however, alpha\beta builds are not fun\playable for most people ( especially those with no extra spare time and better things todo ), and even those who do have to vent sometimes.

What I don't understand is how the issues/bugs that will continue to be introduced through the game development process, speaks about the player abilities; nor why negative feedback about the game difficulty is less valid than your positve one. Obviously veterans who spent hundreds of hours ingame, know all the tricks and use all the extra online resources(such as loot maps), tend to find little challenge are clamoring for every extra bit of difficulty, but they are a niche among the players, and shouldn't be the target audience.

Also for every "whiner" or harmless venting, we have the pretentious little schmucks, who seem to outnumber their counterparts by a huge margin. Many of whom suffer from superiority fewer, that reminds me of school kids trying to appear different, with their unofficial motto being 'We are not mainstream fuck yeah!!!!' or we are smarter, have more patience etc than a 12 year old COD player. Embarrassing...

Ok so many of you have asked how should this game be played, is it right or wrong to kill.

Here is how to succeed in dayz

If fighting a zombie with your barefists often attracts too many zombies and ends in your death, try not fighting the zombie. A lab mouse will not keep shocking its self to get a piece of cheese, be smarter then the mouse. Flat out run away from the zombie, alternatively  trap the zombie... sometimes the zombie will clip out, trap it again... the vast majority of the time it will stay trapped.

People struggle with the early game as fresh spawns because they do not respect the fact that early game is different then later in the game. When you spawn you are dieing... you need to stop thinking about m4s and find food and clothes. If the city is looted you need to think about moving to another nearby city, not the airfield across the map. Once you are warm and fed, then you can worry about getting your rocket launchers.

.

That post was directed at the people who claim that a game millions of people are partaking in every day is unplayable. If you want to share negative feedback about broken features in this alpha, i suggest you mention that you understand what alpha means. And if you or the others you are defending "have better things to do" than do some leg work (watch a fucking w0bO video), why should that affect the learning curve for the people that do feel inclined to actually invest some time into mastering dayz?

Dayz is not a casual game. Dayz is not for everyone. Dayz is supposed to be uber hard. Stop using accessibility as an excuse for dumbed down difficulty.

When i decided that guns wouldn't be a priority in my new fresh spawns, the game became much easier, i even started finding alot more guns than before. Dont look for them, they will find you. And if Dayz were real life (yeah... i know.... big assumption) i would like to see any of us going around towns punching zombies/infected/brainless pieces of relentless meat in the head.

That beeing said. You need to start playing the game as if you were one of the few survivors that woke up starving and without nothing after an event that wiped out most of humam life.
