I think 100 might possibly work as a cap. By the time that happens we might have another island or two which would spread folks out a bit more. Might still be too much, but I would love to see a live map feed of it and how 100 players move around.

Sure, if they develop the parts that look like my head after a good shave.  I agree there.  More Islands would be cool as well but while technology grows every two years and allows more and more server traffic without lag I don't know that we've come to the point that it can handle 100 people PLUS zombie action.

I and a couple others have been messing around with getting zombie stampedes going, locking multiples up in buildings, etc.  If enough people do the same thing it will tax a server out as I have already experienced lag from just my own guy causing a 10+ hoard to run around after me.  Multiply me by 80 doing the same thing... throw in the "kill one zombie and two take its place dynamic" that used to exist and we have the potential to make one of those "Dick move of the year" threads where a few people take down a server just by playing the game and exploiting some loopholes the devs didn't see or plan for.

BTW, if it seems like I am dumping on the devs I am not.  I bring this stuff up in hopes that if they didn't think about it they should know we are, and if we are, just imagine when they release the program and people who do nothing but sit around all day long dreaming of ways to grief MMOs get their hands on it.  This is all meant for developer consumption even if it is all planned for and summarily thrown in the garbage can.  They asked for input.  Well, here it is.  I wish some of the fanboys on this site respected that concept.

Now that they shifted spawns to all across the coast, and some inland, my stomping grounds feel a tad crowded with even as little as 50.  I'm the kind of player that wishes Chernarus was four times the size it is now with more room for survival players while keeping the pvp hotspots mostly towards the coast..  Maybe a 150 would work on a map that size but that's just my opinion.  If the PvP kids want to come get me they should earn it.

The map is going to feel even smaller when vehicles start rolling about.

Yiss to all of that.

Re-Vehicles.  The map became so small and you got geared so quick that i missed the journeys of having to trek for your hard earned gear.

60 player Chernarus servers in the mod felt much more lively for one main reason (in my opinion): vehicles.

Vehicles were quite loud and easily visible, thus high vehicle population servers made it seem like more action was occurring. People running around on foot are alot more sneaky and stealthy, and that is a reason player interaction seems like less than it is.

A bit higher server population (60-80 minimum) + vehicles = alot more visible/noticable player activity. Key words here are visible/noticeable.

In the end, I think once the game is actually completed (version 1.0) and there are private hives available for server hosts to tinker with the amount of vehicles/loot/players/etc they want on their server, everyone will find the server that has their ideal DayZ experience.

Personally I like alot of vehicles and more players, but that is just me. If you do not, then there will be a server to cater to your playstyle/preferences as well. I am not the type to force upon you what I think is best, which is why I think private hives will be a godsend.

Good things come in time, often it takes a long time. A reason why MGS5:TPP will be 10x better than any CoD game. 5 years of development vs. 1 year of development. Lol.
