Mighty Leeds 0 Posted September 12, 2014 Hello Dayz Players. Can anyone provide me with information on how the Dayz development team are dealing with cheats. I am 400 hours into the game and finding unusual and frustrating happenings are getting ever more common. Recent events include, being punched to death by an invisible foe, being blown up on the top floor of a building whilst my teams mate were on guard outside and in the building (they swear they did not do it), new spawn appearing next to me in the deep west and punching me to death, my char losing his items rapidly one by one until I was in my underpants (which was nice) and most recently the God Box. The God Box is basically boxes within a boxe that have all manner of items. Including a shot gun with unlimited ammo that when fired at a wall could knock it over and was basically a short range machine gun (it was a lot of fun I must admit). The god box came from a dead player. He also had an M4 with an unlimited mag. Which I reckon I have found 4 of so far during running around. Back to my question, these strange issues are becoming more and more frequent and given the amount of time it takes to invest in a new player it is beginning to put me off the game. What is being done about this? I am aware that 0.49 comes with a full character reset and should be with us soon.
Baker. 1484 Posted September 12, 2014 I'm sure hacking a large priority for the dev's. But bare in mind its a shared responsibility with Battleye. A lot of people seem to shit on battleye as if they dont care but I feel that is most likely inaccurate. A company that provides nothing but anti cheat software is surely spending all their resources to combat cheats, its not like they have another revenue stream to fall back on. It is however a cat and mouse game, one that the mod has never been able to combat properly without antihack software and active admins. I imagine something like Chris's antihack will be a necessary part of the final release. The ability to spectate being the most important tool.
Khanarac 252 Posted September 12, 2014 (edited) The question is how much ressources they have. Have you heard the story about a guy in GTA5, a hacker, raping people and they can't defend themselves. Imagine if a huge company like Rockstar can't make this guy stop, how is the comperatively tiny Bohemia and BE going to stop it? There are just too many badguys. Imo the hacking will persist to be a problem until we have public hives/shards. And even then we have intrinsic problems, like admin corruption. Caboose187 (DayZ) 3036 Posted September 12, 2014 Jesus people. The pinned topic was locked for a reason. Quit bringing this shit up until the mess in that thread gets sorted out and unlocked.
Death By Crowbar 1213 Posted September 12, 2014 As mentioned, you'll want to check the pinned topic at the top of the thread for more info on this, all of what you've mentioned is discussed in there.http://forums.dayzgame.com/index.php?/topic/168635-whats-the-current-hacking-status-like-in-dayzsa/ Some of it is being addressed by BattleEye, some of it (duping and glitched items) is being addressed in the upcoming .49 build, and some of it they're still working on. However, everything you've mentioned is known and definitely in the Feedback Tracker.

qwer4790 26 Posted September 12, 2014 If you ever had a chance to enter a Chinese or Russian server and go to B city, you can experience those unimaginable hackers.
