No idea where I am?

Hey guys,

New player here obviously, quite enjoying the game so far.

I've never played Arma 2 before and basically bought it for this mod.

I was just wondering is there any quick way to find out roughly where I am/would be on the map without knowing the Arma2 world?

I find myself spawning and just running in random locations for ages on end and not really finding much at all (Found a gun once).

Any tips/hints?

EDIT:

I did read about looking at the bottom right hand side when I spawn and look for some numbers then using http://dayzdb.com/map#4.128.108

But I don't see any numbers anywhere on my screen when I first spawn?

1) Online maps such as http://dayzmap.info are a great help. There are many other maps like it so just pick the one you like best (google "dayz map" or "chernarus map"). The ones made specifically for dayz also include all the spawn points for loot.

2) as soon as you log in you get a hint as to where you are (box in th lower right corner, the 2nd line gives you the name of the closest town / point of interest).

3) find that town mentioned in the box on the map, look anround you for landmarks (treelines, streets, coastlines, powerlines, shape of the terrain, buildings...) to pinpoint your position on the map.

Ah, a friend told me I should be looking for numbers not the name of the city/place im at -_-

Also read road sighns then look at the map and try to work out where you are. Also there are guides on the Dayz wiki on how to find out what way north is at night/day. If you are really lost try to stick to a road as these normally lead somewhere.

LOL, yeah I assumed he meant the numbers were GPS coords -______-
