inventory while running?

in streams and videos I keep seeing people going into their inventory while running and the character keeps going, but when I go into inventory (or get a message like 'cannot render stupid bike helmet that's nowhere near me') my character immediately stops moving until I'm done.  obviously I'm doing something different.  how do I get into inventory and keep moving?  thanks.

I'm not sure if I know what your problem is. Are you new to the game?
Just keep holding the W button while being in the inventory.

I do, and the character just stops dead and won't respond to movement commands until I exit inventory.

 

I don't know if this might make a difference, but I have movement remapped to the arrow keys...

It's actually quite random, sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't. However, AFAIK it was made so you HAD to stop to see your inventory although somewhere down the months of Alpha release we got this bug. :P

Same for me.  And I bound the arrow keys to movement, too.

Inventory stops me dead as well.  That is right up there with the insane aggro zombie (this is pinball game stupid) that catches up with me right when I stop, wait for a while, then drink or eat.

 

This stuff needs fixing because it hurts the logic center of my cranium.

I find I have to be holding w first then open my inventory... If I'm stopped and open it I can't move.

Not sure if you've tried that.
