dirrly 70 Posted August 27, 2014 Hello there, I'm new to DayZ SA and asked myself: Is there a Camouflage-System, f.e. the distance enemy players notice me from is shorter, when I wear Camouflage-Clothing or something like that... or is it just like in reality, that Camouflage-Clothing only helps me to be seen harder in f.e. gras? Sorry, if my english is bad, it´s not my native language. Dirrly P.S.: For all the Bandits out there... what is the purpose of robbing everything, even my clothing and then tell me to run away as fast as I can or I would be shot... why should I'm be afraid of being shot? escobert 112 Posted August 27, 2014 No not really, there's a good amount of people who will turn certain settings down to make characters more visible at distance but besides certain colors sticking out like red or orange no, no in game mechanical advantage to having camo on. If you tend to play in the forest than put on green clothes. In towns black is better. In regards to bandits, my life IRL is more important then my cell phone, my wallet or my car. That's what I actually did or nearly. I found a machete near the place the two robbed me. I went back to slash at them with the machete. QUAZIMOFO 275 Posted September 1, 2014 Camoflauge can really help in close proximity to other players, but not so much at distances greater than 200m or so, once grass stops rendering. Rags! 1966 Posted September 1, 2014 As a person who has done lots of tests with friends with camouflage and profile changing clothing... CAMOUFLAGE WORKS. There are limits, of course. Past 175-200m, grass doesn't render or show and players can adjust game settings to help spot players, so you can see characters without it, but in distances that are shorter than that, wearing clothing that changes your profile and blends in without a doubt can help you remain unseen. The best clothing that we've found has been the brown shaded Gorka Military gear, Autumn and Spring Hunter Pants, Tan Tactical Shirts, and similar items. Boonie hats, camo bandana masks, ushankas, and other camo hats help to a lesser degree. It depends, of course, on what colored patch of foliage that you choose to hide in, plus you have to be aware of what you are standing in front of as well so that your profile isn't seen from a certain direction, but me and my friends most certainly can see the difference in using effective camouflage. Besides, there is no reason NOT to wear duller, brown/green colored clothing when you find it, so you should always wear clothing that will make you harder to see, hypothermia and hyperthermia notwithstanding... Of course you can't cause he's taking that picture ^-^But yeah, camo actually work especially up close. I had 2 guys passed on less then 5-10 meters twice without noticing me.
