Ladder glitch?

Recommended Posts

I've climbed many-a-ladder in this standalone thus far and I've yet to have any kind of glitch..I hear all this talk about a ladder glitch and was wondering how/why it happens, what triggers it and are they supposed to fix it in the next patch?

As far as I know it's normally a client/server conflict. The players location can become conflicted, and the server will think you are no longer where you are, be it on a ladder, top floor of a building etc and so will apply the damage as if you had fallen before the issue is resolved. Usually by then you have the 'you are dead' screen or broken limbs.

The issue is worse on laggy servers, ones with high ping or when a player's connection isn't stable. I used to have it a lot when I played on wifi, but since spending the truly enormous sum of £8 on a longer cable I've barely experienced it at all.

By the way, I fully expect someone else to come along and either explain this better or point out that I am an ill informed moron who doesn't know anything ( a fact which I completely agree with) but as I say, that's what I understand to be the cause of the issue.

Well, that makes sense because I have my internet hardwired to a splitter so I don't use wifi...Maybe it's a connection thing...the only thing I've experienced is drinking a soda and the animation edging me off the roof...Which is hardly a glitch I would say.

There are two glitches a "positive" and a negative one. The first allows for climbing ldders that are on the other side of a wall just like you can open and close doors through walls as well. The second probably happens when you get desynced right after entering a ladder. Your character basically lets go and falls down - potentially to his/her death. This one seems to be far less common than it used to be - last time it happened to me was shortly after 0.46 hit (I was shooting zombie hordes from a deer stand).

I have noticed the first one you mentioned, thanks for the input.
