rolandj 0 Posted August 24, 2014 So I played a bit of DayZ SA on my crappy old intel i3 laptop with integrated graphics, I got 15-30 fps on minimal, this was all to be expected with it being a laptop.I finally got DayZ on my new pc and I'm getting nearly the same performance my laptop did. Pretty annoyed, couldn't even kill someone who was unarmed while I had a crowbar and I still got killed. I don't see how my PC runs it so bad when there is mass amounts of people asking if their integrated graphics laptop can run it or not.'Specs: Intel Q9500 CPU Nvidia GTX 460 GPU 4 GB RAM 500 GB HDD Windows 7 64 Bitprobably next thing I'm going to try is overclocking even though I tried to avoid it at all costs, when I left DayZ last I was in a small town getting constant 15 FPS on basically minimal settings besides textures being on low instead of very low.Games I can play that make me question this: BF3 55-60 FPS on Medium Bioshock Infinite 55-60 FPS on Medium Metro Last Light 50-60 FPS on High GTA 4 40-50 FPS on High Payday 2 60 FPS on Max
DemonGroover 8836 Posted August 24, 2014 When i upgraded my laptop the CPU was improved but the GPU slightly worse - however i got 40 FPS rather than the standard 25 with my old system. CPU is king.

CPU is king.I'm not sure if you thought I upgraded the laptop to different parts, I completely bought a new PC. But yeah I'm just guessing the game is CPU heavy because it wouldn't make sense for my GPU to be getting destroyed by this game.

boneboys 7988 Posted August 24, 2014 But the fact remains that the CPU is behind many of the "newer".The 460 is a good GPU and is still holding its own.I moved up from a GTX460 to a GTX660 and the fps increase was minimal in DayZ/ArmA, other titles less CPU intensive gave good fps increases.I OC'd my CPU and had better results. If you OC, do your homework beforehand, know your MB version and look for guides specific to that MB & CPU, oh and get yourself a decent cpu cooler.

I've been looking for something to OC my CPU but I can't find much.
Grumpy Monkey 396 Posted August 24, 2014 (edited) DayZ is the 1st game to bring my PC to it's knees, no problem from CPU before. Don't feel disheartened. I think it brings (almost) every PC to its knees. Hell most of the time, especially in towns, I'm happy with 25 FPS while my GPU is bored to tears (30% usage) and my CPU is only mildly flexing its muscles (50-60%). I'm not sure what is up with that. In open fields and forest areas my FPS is around 60 though. To be honest I stopped caring about FPS as long as it is playable.
