Mask Overlay

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone, while i was playing S.T.A.L.K.E.R: Call of Prypiat  with Misery mod, i thought about mask overlay on DayZ 1st person servers...  like this one here.

It would be nice, because it would add more immersion to the game AND, more important, the lack of Field of View would gie PvP a little more tension.

It'd be cool, but masks need to provide some advantage besides just looking cool else nobody will wear them given that they would restrict the wearer's vision.

Unless the devs are planning on adding radioactive zones or chemical spills, I doubt that gasmasks will ever have an actual in-game use.

Regardless, I'm totally for this. Useless or not, gas masks are cool and I'm all for immersion.

But what if you are not wearing a mask? At this point not wearing one would be more beneficial since mask at the moment have no benefits, the lack of field of view would draw most players away from using them.

So what?  The point of the game isn't to get people to wear as many masks as possible.

You will need the CAll of Prypiat in order to play Misery.... But if you are not familiar with the original game, i recommend that you play the original first, because the Misery mod changes a lot of the original game's mechanics and makes the experience waaaay more difficult (And immersive and realistic).

Here is a link for the mod and the info you need (There is a guide that you can download and contains all the info about the mod)

You have a point here.... But then, the masks could provide armor protection (i think the devs will implement this) but it would limit you vision, like in real life.... It's like a gambling decision. Also, it would be restricted to 1st person only server (former hardcore servers)

Aah, so there could be ballistic face masks or something?

I couldn't find a decent image. You get the idea, though. I've seen Spetsnaz-style soldiers wearing helmets like that in various games. Welding masks could be an alternative as well.

I think you miss understand my reply. I was refirring to the OP stating that players should have there would be a masked vision displayed around the screen in first person servers. The way I interpret his post was that this was something always there, even without a mask. Hence my reply how about the players not wearing masks, it would not make any sense to have a masked view without actually wearing one..

I was not referring to wearing as many mask as possible at all. Next time read back a little bit:)

Yeah, something like this....The main purpose was to give more immersion in the game, idk, but after playing the Misery mod it feels like something is missing in there... but its nothing that would make me cry about making me stop the game.

I see now -- FYI if you quote in your post there will be no confusion as to what exactly you are replying to ;)
