But I have problems with performance. My PC Specs: Graphic Card: GTX660 2GB Asus Processor: FX8320 - 8 cores 3.5ghz RAM: 8GB Mother Board: ASROCK 970 PRO3 R2.0 Power: NOX 750w OS: Windows 8.1 64 bits. I get 23 - 27 FPS in Elektro in minimun settings and 720p. Why? Is my PC? The Game? I dont know why this happens. :( Thnks :) Sorry for my bad english, im spanish.
chepaco3290 59 Posted August 16, 2014 ALPHA!!!!!!!!!! Firgured I'd shout that at you before all the homer fanboys do. Seriously though, DayZ is a very poorly optimized game, perhaps one of the worse on Steam's Early Access right now. You'll just have to wait a while before they fix this, if they even do. applejaxc 2500 Posted August 16, 2014 (edited) 1: All ArmA titles have been notoriously awful regardless of your system. My Toshiba Sattelite in 1366x768 at all minimum gets the same performance as your GTX660 + 3.5GHz CPU in Elektro (though with some stuttering). Someone else with the same specs as your computer might get twice the performance or half for no reason2: How is your performance in other titles?3: Have you tried setting everything to high+? The one ArmA works, some graphic settings will tax your CPU and some will tax your GPU. "Low" terrain will use your CPU, while "High" terrain will use your GPU, meaning you will actually get higher performance at higher graphics settings. It's something you will need to play around with; look for one of the thousands of tweaking guides available for ArmA 3 and DayZ. This is the most in-depth guide I know of. I suggest you ignore the tip to disable CPU parking; the feature exists for a reason, and I wouldn't bother tampering with it. The performance gain isn't worth potentially shortening your CPU's lifespan (decreasing performance long-term). I'd also ignore setting DayZ to "High" in the task manager as this doesn't truly gain much in performance, and can potentially increase the chances of the game crashing (leaving your character defenseless for 30 seconds). Applications like "Razer's Game Booster" or "Iobit Game Booster" aren't valuable, either. Maybe six years ago disabling extraneous programs would free up your 256MB-1GB of RAM and help your game performance, but now with your 8GB system and CPU speed, it won't do you any favors. You may as well save the hard drive space. Edited August 16, 2014 by Applejaxc
Officer25 54 Posted August 16, 2014 I have a gtx 660 ti and I get 60 fps in open fields on medium settings... and around 30-40 in cities so idk man, maybe your shit is broken or the ti is just a lot better than the standard.

battlerhd 116 Posted August 17, 2014 (edited) This game is a lot more CPU intensive than GPU so if you getting such bad frames and you want to improve them purely to play Dayz then upgrade your CPU. A GTX 660 is good enough to run the game, I have a 770 and can run it max with around 40fps *EDIT - Go in to your Geforce Experience and optimize the game aswell Edited August 17, 2014 by iBattleVet

battlerhd 116 Posted August 17, 2014 what exactly in gefore experience needs to be optimized for the game?Well in Geforce there is a games tab, all you need to do is find Dayz and press optimize, this will give you the recommended settings based on your system, If you wanted to get the best performance then there is is a spanner under where it says "Using Optimal Settings" press this and there is a sliding bar which gives you the option for pure performance or graphical looks. http://puu.sh/aWchn/874a890a59.jpg http://puu.sh/aWcjp/fdf2e08376.png http://puu.sh/aWclC/078fbcc6a1.jpg

Ultimoses 110 Posted August 17, 2014 Had those malloc-parameters, too, and they did reduce performance somehow. Didn't work for me.
irl-calibre 744 Posted August 17, 2014 (edited) the correct parameter should be -malloc=tbb4malloc_bi_x64 to tell the game to use 64bit memory allocation instead of default 32bit as I understand it. edit : no point using it if you don't have a 64bit system obviously.. ZomboWTF 527 Posted August 22, 2014 the malloc=system uses the default system memory allocator from your system, which did a serious performance boost for me -high starts DayZ with high priority, afaik
