Can someone translate? The road sign is in a strange language...

Recommended Posts

All the others road signs in the game are in Cyrillic...

If you are wanting to discuss game tunes (and we shouldn't be considering it's not on topic with this forum) then could I put forward: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-kWeJ9ywQJM&list=PL83B72EF62A8E53AF

It's not the best game tune in the world (I am old enough to think that some of the C64 ones are) but listening to that tune waiting for a clan match was basically my evening's entertainment for about 2 years solid.

The road signs are in Russian, try to learn them by using dayzdb.com but don't be a complete scrub and use it forever, just use it to learn the names then try to wean yourself off of it.

The road signs are in cyrillic, actually. It's the alphabet for a lot more languages than just russian. Just as the latin alphabet is used for more than latin. ;)

Also, the OP was making a joke...

I believe the word I am looking for here is "whooosh".

While I appreciate the advice, I've been playing DayZ (mod/SA) so long now I could probably shut my eyes and make my way from one side of the map to the other so no map is needed. I also speak a little Russian (мой русский очень плохо - I think) so know the difference between the cyrillic and latin alphabets. With all that in mind it has to be said that this thread has clearly been posted with my virtual tongue placed in my virtual cheek.

One interesting thing about the sign is that it's had some work done on it. It isn't just a case of font rendered. Look at it, the "str" of construction is faded and other letters have texturing on them. I admire the attention to detail as it's clearly not meant to be part of the final game as it's in English.
