Is DZC/DZL or any other 3rd party program required to play any DayZ Mod?

right now im using steam to play DayZ, however i can only play the vanilla dayz mod (if only those devs could add more weapons i wouldn't be so berated with finding no other guns other than the M4)

if a 3rd party program is required are they endorsed by any companies/ reputable people?

However, they do make the whole running and updating experience much easier for many people who don't understand what goes on under the hood.  As long as things don't go wrong ... which they do.

 

That being said, like most things in modern life, convenience leads to ignorance, followed by avoidable drama.  It is always worth having a basic grasp on how things work.

oh ok which program do you guys use to start up dayz mod?

I usually launch DayZ mod directly from Steam and make my own shortcuts for other mods of DayZ if I ever play them.

 

Occasionally I'll browse servers and make a favourites list using WithSix, because the in-game browser and Steam server browser are dreadful.  I don't use WithSix or any other tools to manage or launch anything though.

I personally use DayZ launcher because I run 3 overpoch servers running different maps and there are no need for parameters with launcher making it easy to switch between them.

 DayZ Launcher. Recently reinstalled Arma lineup and installed the usual Play with6. bikeys were rejected on every server I tried. I try DZC, same nonsense. Bad bikeys, missing content, no joy.
 Download&Install DayZ Launcher, picked a server..It tells me what mods Im missing and ask if I would like to download&install "Yes"..Not an issue since!
