What lags less? DayZ Mod or Game?

Recommended Posts

-snorts- no reason to get so aggressive, duckling. I'm not here to start some argument or harass anyone. Your accusation and quickness to jump the gun is, frankly, insulting.  I will excuse your rudeness. I'm here to discuss and hopefully help.

Yes, these things work in tandem. What you've described still falls underneath the umbrella of my simplification. Variables may compound and appear to be the same problem but are still genuinely separate when problem solving and fixing the issues a player is experiencing. Symptoms of FPS drop are not going to be cured with a good connection. Symptoms of a bad connection are not going to be cured with new graphics card, better ram, or adjustments to ingame settings or ini.

The scenario you described can be alleviated by joining a server you have better ping with or avoiding high traffic servers if you find that alleviates your problems. That would be a lag issue, but is in no way an FPS issue. A clear distinction, as per my point. OP may or may not need help discerning where to look first if/when they decide to play the game.

As for the laptop comment.. Laptops aren't all bad I'll admit. They come with obvious utility. But they are more expensive, too integrated for cheap and reliable upgrades, and still teather you to wireless connections which (more often than not, but not always) contribute to complications and connection issues. I'm not really against laptop users or usage, per say, but I don't find them very cost effective or user friendly enough for my own standards. To each her/his own.

Excuse my hastiness, generally that topic is only brought up when someone is looking to start an argument.

For the record, I agree with what you're saying. I wish this had been your original post! :p

For me the mod lags much much less. Not sure if that's just a standalone networking issue that needs optimising though.

Video card wise, both about the same. The mod is a bit smoother based on me having to upgrade my rig for sa as a quad coore with a 2gb NVidia card just wasn't performing like it did in the mod.

Gameplay wise....mod hands down for now....SA is catching up quick though. In another month or 2 I see it actually starting to surpass the mod :)
