Did you beat your chest and flex your internet biceps while posting this "I am awesome, you must be incompetent" post?

 

Even on servers with a very low ping the zombies bounce around, hit you at range, and ignore melee strikes constantly.

No, I didn't thump my chest, I'm merely giving an accurate assessment of the situation. Even though the hitboxes are different now I've found that "leading" them works best, see this tutorial on how to kill them, it might help you. It still holds true with the introduction of navmesh and also works for hoppers. Hope this helps you.

It won't help people like him.  They don't want a zombie survival game, they want the 1000 cars, self blood bag and weapons galore epoch game.  You know, the only version of DayZ mod that actually has population?

I'm lost

Why are people complaining that they spawn too fast or that you can't shoot them because more come

I spent some time exploring and didn't see a single zombie in the first 3 towns, I finally found a large town, shot a zombie

3 more turned up and that was it, no more spawned after that

Same thing happened in the next town, had maybe 5-6 zombies spawn and then no more spawned

Oh my god it's sooooo hard

Sure when Melee really worked, it was easy. Currently its vary bugged in .47 stable I'm sorry to say. I know this for a fact. Yesterday in fact I was by bolota aim directly for the zombies head, and nothing happened what so ever. In fact sometimes my avatar dosn't even swing. Its vary bugged bro, please don't try to explain how to kill zombies to us..we know. Its not what the problem is. It has nothing to do with player skill and everything to do with game bugs. It needs to be fixed really badly. I never seen this issue before .47 stable, not even on exp. I have played dayz for 100s of hours never seen this bug til now.

I have to agree with you, certainly there good way to kill zombies in Dayz SA. That's not what the problem is, its a bug. It complete counter productive to fixing a serous game bug that really needs to be fixed.

Known issues:

  • Player can in rare circumstances enter a state in which they cannot attack and must relog
  • Character may temporarily enter a frozen state when throwing (resolved a few seconds)
  • Melee targeting is off in some situations

These are not that rare though lol

is it more zombies now? i realy like it! but i dont like the respawn time on them and the aggro, will they fix this? :)

There is nothing to fix Zombies are supposed to appear in significant numbers and be dangerous. As it is zombies can see you at 100 yards and zero in on you and hear your shots and zero in on you at about 200 yards. However the second generation zombies that you create by killing the ones that have aggro-ed in on you can see you 600 yards. Since it would probably be impossible to have a big crowd of zombies spawned in one place rapid re-spawning is the logical way to simulate a bigger mob of zombies.

I never claimed that it didn't contain bugs or issues. I was responding to all of the whining that it's unplayable or impossible, it's quite the latter. Also in response to the complaints that zeds ruin all their gear and that zeds can't be hit at all and killed, if you're playing properly it takes things such as desync and bad luck for a zed to actually hit. So it takes you 2-3 swings before you finally connect, but so what? It's still playable and still not difficult  That's my point, it's not chest thumping, it's not claiming there are no issues - I'm merely giving an accurate assessment of the situation and offering guidance (links to tutorial vidoes) for those who seem to obviously need it.

Not sure if dayz db has updated stuff for the SA, but it used to have each guns audiable range. AKM's were 180m so if you fired that in a small town, be ready for the horde. The horde wont stop either because the fresh repawing zeds her the last shots from you killing zombies and run at you again. Im sure that may be what people are misinterpreting as "pre agrod zombies". Swap to melee if you want to live.....then you can mop up all you startled without pulling more. Its just managing agro, something I hope stays in the game :)

No this is not rare at all. Twice I have died when encountering another player, my weapon refuses to fire and I get killed.

Since I have played on the new stable .47 this has happened to me a # of times, I decided to stop playing til its fixed. Its just not fun with that bug in the game.

Maybe the melee bug does not effect everyone. Not really sure. For me it does. I have played dayz sa for some time now through a few patches. This the 1st time I have seen the melee bug. For me it is so bad I don't even relly on my fire axe any more, it just dosn't work much the time. Its something that is vary important to play dayz. I'm going to not play until I see a hot fix or a patch. But it does look like the devs are aware of it and are working on it.

 

I do not think the zombies are any tougher then they have been. they use path finding now and some which is a game changer in a good way. In I have been able to lock them in rooms. The problem isnt the zombies or how many it is the melee bug. Its like going to combat with a gun that only works 50% of the time, and when it does work it shots were your not aiming. Pretty lame. So once they get the melee bug fixed and fix the crawler zombies (they can go through walls) we will be back in biz. Its Alpha LOL

agreed i took some time off since it had come out, the bugs back were alot easier to handle and take in, but this combat bugs is a fiasco. It is worst then it came out, i came back to check dayz out since tents seem to be in and i lost my char that still had his m4 but due to combat bug i lost it, is not that i cant manage Zs is that the attacks with melee either doesnt hit or i cant swing anymore even causing my guns not to fire anymore and yes i had ammo. thus becoming a marathon game..... it should have been the opposite, combat problems when the EA was out and more polished now.

 

I know it is alpha and i know there will bugs but this is a setback to me..... mainly because it seems that it has been present for a couple of patches.

The weird thing was is the devs were vary aware these bugs were in the game, but thought they were much rarer. They released .47 stable anyways. This much like the old latter death bug. Were you would try to climb a latter the you would get "You are dead"....those were the worst. LOL You couldn't eve loot your body cause you CHR was stuck up in there air. Honestly I think the melee bug is the worst I have seen yet. I really don't like shooting zombies it s a waste.
